For whatever reason, I’ve been thinking about the Nestle Alpine White bar, which was a white chocolate/almonds bar sold in the 80s. White chocolate is so sweet it’s hard to match up with other candies, and almonds were the perfect choice. I ate them all the time when they were available, but no one else even seems to remember them. Which other oldtime/discontinued candy bars would you bring back?
PB Max!
PB Max!
PB Max!
I don’t feel like describing it right now but it was heaven. Reese’s cups wished they were even half as awesome as PB Max.
Could it even be called White Chocolate under current guidelines? I recall it not having much in the way of cocoa butter, though it might have had enough. Not that it was terrible, I just didn’t think it very white chocolatey (and I was quite glad when the FDA finally clarified the rules). I don’t like oversweetened stuff myself; my favorite white chocolate is Droste’s pastilles, which are only a slight bit sweeter than their milk chocolate.
The Reggie Bar.
I have one in my freezer that I’ve been keeping since 1982. Interested?
Marathon
Not a bar, but the most amazing hard candies - Regal Crown Sours. I can’t believe that something so great was discontinued.
Welch’s Fudge
I second the Marathon Bar (not the british Snickers).
The original Payday, larger, thicker and you could pick off the peanuts to share with the squirrels and eat all that yummy stuff inside.
I liked those too. There’s several white chocolate bars available today. I think Hershey has one with almonds. Kit Kat whites are good too,
I love Necco Wafers. They are hard to find. I order a box each year off the internet.
Anyone remember the foot long bubble gum sticks? I can’t recall the product name. You could get them in pink or grape. Bought them all the time in the seventies.
Bub’s Daddy
Apparently, the currently available Super Bubble Bubble Gum is the same recipe in smaller pieces.
Another vote for the Marathon Bar.
Curly Wurly is almost the same as a Marathon. Marathon was the US version of this Euro candy.
Amazon has Curly Wurly and some of the internet candy places do also.
I was going to mention this and link to my web page about it, but it looks like you beat me to it.
I’d add Nestle’s Cookies and Mint – my daughter’s favorite.
The Seven Up bar.
It had cherry, coconut, caramel, fudge, jelly, maple, and Brazil nut centers in each of its seven segments.
Forever Yours. Dark chocolate with caramel and nougat inside.
