My pet pooch has a very small lump, (maybe a cm in diam), on the top of his muzzle. I noticed it a couple of days ago. He chases flying bugs and I guessed that he’d gotten bitten or stung. He doesn’t act as if it’s particularly sensitive- he’ll let me touch it. Yesterday, it, ( the bump), lost it’s hair. Today, it appears to have grown some to it’s current size, (1cm diam).
His activity level and appetite seem unaffected. His behavior is normal. I don’t have an appropriate thermometer to check his temp.
Any guesses? A wart?
I’m taking him to the vet to have it checked out. However, the question is do I borrow money and take him Mon or can I wait until Wed, payday?
If the swelling doesn’t progress and he doesn’t have any difficulty breathing, he should be fine till Wednesday. If he’s having an allergic reaction, though, he may be all better before payday.
I think you mean “snout”? The muzzle is what the vet puts over the dog’s snout to avoid being bitten. (Could it have a second meaning?)
My yellow lab lived a full life with a pink bump on the side of his snout. I think he got it when attacked by a loose dog terrorising our neighborhood (owned by a cop, of all people!) It never changed color nor grew in size. The vet did not seem concerned as long as no changes were noted.
So, there’s a chance it may be nothing to worry about.
