i knew a guy that ate peas at room temperature.
Baked beans.
Tuna.
Corned beef.
Campbell’s condensed soup.
Chef Boy-ar-dee pasta.
Sardines and herring.
Canned peaches and pears.
Green beans and olives. Also Van Camp’s pork and beans; my mom would pack those in the ice chest on road trips.
 Good God! You eat a bowl of cold soup, which is like a bowl full of cold mucus blown out the nose, but you don’t like the idea of canned salmon? which you never tried?
It’s not unlike a can of tuna fish, only pinker.
They sell it in foil pouches, handy for lunches, open and eat, or put on top of salad.
When I was “dieting” long ago, a can of French cut string beans as a snack, cold and drained, was an OK appetite suppressor late in the afternoon. Every other canned veg tastes cooked to death, green beans or of course 3 Bean Salad or German Potato Salad were fairly tasty eats.
I don’t think I eat anything out of the can.
but when I make tuna salad, I drink the broth the tuna is in, straight from the can.
Nope, no shameful secrets here, move along.
You’re suggesting there may be people who don’t do that? Those poor unfortunate yummy-fish-brine-deprived people.
any canned fish. It’s already cooked to shit and back, so eating it straight up won’t hurt me.
Chef Boy-ar-dee and similar canned pastas.
Corned beef hash (mmmmmmmm!).
These were both in the past when I was young and stupid. Although I would probably still eat Chef Boy-ar-dee out of the can if I still ate Chef Boy-ar-dee. I have, however, gotten to the age where the solid beef fat in the hash makes that whole thing inedible unless it’s heated to melt it down.
Whenever I can get my hands on canned peaches, I usually eat them straight from the can. Mmm, now I’m craving them . . .
Oh, and I might try drinking the tuna juice, but my cat would probably smother me in my sleep - the can opener is her signal to weave around my feet and wait for the salty goodness.
For the most part I’ll eat anything out of the can that’ll eat cooked. When my wife was pregnant the first time it seems like she sent me to the bodega across the street every night for some kind of canned vegetables, which I believe she usually ate right from the can.
Dolmas
Trader Joe’s smoked trout.
Smoked salmon from Prime Select Seafood.
Almond paste until I puke.
Save Ferris, with some guy’s college video.
Yeah, as distinct from plain corned (bully) beef. I forgot about that!
The Asian supermarket in my neighborhood stocks corned beef and mutton that are completely different from the stuff that comes in those old Spam-type cans with the little keys. They’re actually big chunks of meat packed in congealed fat and often some kind of sauce (garlic, chilli pepper, barbecue). I think they’re made in New Zealand. If I’m hungry enough and pressed for time, I’ll eat them straight out of their flat tins, but they’re so fatty they really need to be heated up.
Another thing I love straight out of the can is Spanish rice. I make it myself when I’m on a Tex-Mex kick, but the smaller portions are sometimes welcome and convenient.
I used to love Spam straight out of the can, but I now find it too salty for my taste. I still eat it fried, though.
I’ll also eat potted meat (deviled ham, beef, chicken, turkey) right out of the tin.
Beets.
All fruits.
Pork & Beans.
I would starve before I would eat a Vi-eenie sausage.
Those soups that come in boxes with a pour spout, I just drink 'em at my desk. Especially the squash and tomato. I’ll also eat canned soups like Amy’s, and chili straight from the can. At work, it’s just such a hassle to transfer it to a dish that I then have to wash. I do this with vegetarian stuff, so no slimy gelatin or fatty weirdness to deal with. Works for me!
I do it for everyone in my family, so yes. Then I make the tuna salad in the can, which everyone also thinks is weird.
As for me: if it’s okay to be eaten cold, then I’ve done it. Otherwise, no.
One I like that probably others don’t are lima beans. I’m not too fond of them any other way, but when we accidentally got some, I was shocked at how much I liked them. And I didn’t remotely warm them up–I think that would have made them the mushy crap I hate.
I actually like canned salmon, but something about the fact they leave the bones in makes it feel kinda gross. (And it’s a pain to remove them when making salmon patties.)
