Canned foods you eat straight from the can.

Sardines or kippers. I eat them right out of the can with a fork. And they’re very nutritious.

Black olives. I prefer the spendier oil- or brine-cured deli olives, but the plain ones right out of the can make a great snack too.

Am I weird, or am I not alone here?

Nuts. Nothing else I can think of

Do Pringles count?

Sardines, kippered snacks, and anchovies are three that I love. (Bad for gout, though)

My gf and I will split can of baked beans straight from the can.

When making nachos, I’ll eat the last of the re-fried beans from the can. Other than that, no. The smell of the tin ruins the taste of the food for me.

Vienna Sausages. Mmmmmmmm!

Tuna

If I’m out camping, I’ll heat and eat Dinty Moore Beef Stew out of the can.

Peaches

Pretty much any canned fruit.
I like to keep cans in the refrigerator and open one for dessert after dinner.

Nuts! Yes, those too.

And I forgot about canned fruit. I like canned pears especially.

Anchovies I also love, but I don’t eat those straight out of the can because they’re so salty. I add them to pizza, or vegetable stir-fries though.

Salmon

Most canned foods really. Sardines. Tuna. Soups. Pasta (like Raviolis etc.). I usually prefer soups and pasta cold so I just eat them. Fruit too.

I concur with sardines, kipper snacks, anchovies, and tuna, and add smoked oysters and smoked clams. Basically, any kind of fish.

Vienna sausages? Um… Yes. But while I used to love them when I was a kid (especially the kind in BBQ sauce, which I haven’t seen in decades), I find them kind of gross now.

SPAM[sup]®[/sup].

Ha, well, technically I don’t think Pringles are canned. But I do think they have their (occasional) place on the food spectrum. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nine posts and nobody has mentioned Spam?

Whoops, Ninjaed by **Johnny L.A. **SPAM!

Yup. Count me in on most of the above-named and also artichoke hearts and chickpeas.

They are young, they are tender, they are nice. Eat them, eat them!

Let me tell 'ya, I swore off ever eating anything right out of the can again a long, long time ago. This epiphany came with the experience of our army’s field rations – all neatly packed up in little dull-green serving sized cans and all too often eaten cold, in the dark, while wet or cold or both, with a plastic spoon. After that a basic sense of dignity prevents any more straight-out-of-the-can dining, no matter what it might be.

Condensed cream of chicken soup (no adding water)

I eat peanut butter straight from the jar, but the idea of eating canned food straight from the can just doesn’t work for me.

For me, nuts only.

For my husband, everything tastes just as good right out of the can if he is the one who would have to warm it up or put it in a bowl.

Salmon, tuna, sardines, and black olives. A lot of things when I used to go camping.

Subject/username note; only because I hate even the idea of canned salmon. Can’t say I ever had it though, so I might have to eat my words…

Cream of mushroom here. In the bodega across the street, any number of times.

Baked beans. Corn.
