Well, it looks like the folks over at the freakishly right wing WorldNetDaily have taken up the mantle with this headline: 9-11 panelist says
bin Laden located. Other notorious pages such as NewsMax have also picked up the claim.
Republican 9-11 commission member John Lehman made the claim in California yesterday. But it would seem that he is unable to offer up any basis for the claim.
So why would the Right be flogging again the oft repeated but never substantiated claims that he’s in Pakistan’s Baluchistan region? Why would they take a steaming pile of old news, shine it up, and offer it up as new?
I wonder if maybe next Friday, October 29 or so, the Bush Administration or their confederates will leak the contents mysterious email found on a hard drive in Pakistan. The email will strongly suggest, especially after being translated from Arabic, that ObL died at Tora Bora 2 years ago.
Timing is crucial, however, the leak has got to make the Sunday talk shows and Monday’s papers. OTOH, it has be done close enough to November 2 so ObL can’t pull a Gotcha Ya tape of him reading the Halloween edition of the Kabul Times.
This election is just too damn close for Bush and Rove.
Same way they could have a significant proportion of the electorate still believing Saddam had WMD at the time of the recent invasion, even though the administration has admitted there weren’t any.
Certain types of news carry fast and loud and are well remembered. Certain other types don’t and aren’t. Strangely, the right sort of bullshit has it in spades over the wrong sort of truth. This is what spin is all about.
Guess we’ve gotta come clean. We evil pubbies captured ObL a while ago, and we have him working under new identity at a Shell station in North Jersey off the Garden State Parkway. We’re just waiting until after the World Series to capture all of the headlines, just in time for the election.

Hmmmm danceswithcats — must be a pubbie-link it just doesn’t work! But yeah, I think I saw him there now that I think about it. He was giving discounts to SUVs.
