The recent thread about the forum name change won’t allow me to unpin it.
Is this an error? Or do we have to wait a certain amount of time before we can unpin it?

I just unpinned it successfully.
I was able to unpin it on my phone even.
I unpinned it pronto. (I don’t like leaving things pinned if I’ve already read it.)
Where are you trying to do the “unpin” action? You have to open the thread and left-click the pushpin icon at the left edge of the thread title.
On a computer, I guess you can unpin clicking the same icon in the thread list, but that’s not an option in the mobile version.
That might be skin dependent. I just pinned and unpinned it in ‘latest’.

Yeah, I added to my original post when I noticed you could unpin in the title in a thread list on a computer. But that doesn’t work on a phone (for me).
FWIW, I would not be kindly inclined for different skins to have such radically different capabilities.
Having recently needing to switch skins so I could actually see the bold titles of unread threads… they do.

Must be something weird going on with my browser.
Vincent is kind of the bastard child of Discourse. It’s buggy and some things are very hard (if not impossible) to read on it due to its color schemes.
Most of the other themes are fairly consistent in the way that they do things, though there might be some minor differences here and there.
That said, I haven’t tried unpinning threads in different themes so I’m not sure how well that one works between themes.
Eeeeey… What can I say, that’s just Cousin Vinny.
(Also, I would wager the OP’s problem was some kind of browser cache issue if it suddenly kicked in on its own later.)
BTW, thanks for this thread. I scroll past the sticky’s without looking at them, and likely would not have seen the announcement otherwise!
That’s why I unpin them, so they will drop down the list and only come up at the top if they are new or if thee is something new in them. This one is still at the top because there are lots of responses, but it will sink down in time.
TIL you can un-stick the stickies. Didn’t even know that was an option.
I hadn’t done that, because I thought it might be useful at some point to easily and quickly find one of them. But I’ve never actually needed to do that, and now I have a reason to get rid of them. Unpinning it is!
