The BBQ Pit is a huge joke. It exists solely to be inane, stupid, vulgar, obscene, inflammatory, and offensive. In other words, it exists as a counterpoint to the General Questions and Great Debates boards. In GQ and GD certain standards are maintained. In the Pit those standards are dropped, sometimes completely. Its very name is a joke based on the widely-used term ‘flame’, meaning ‘insult or obscene post or comment’. That is this board’s charter, purpose, and intent. If you don’t like it, don’t come here. The rest of us are having fun.

May I quote the blurb on the opening page of the message boards? It says, “If you gotta flame, do it here. This is the place for all complaints and other discussion regarding administration of the SDMB.” Complaints and discussion along with the flames. Not just flames.
