Capital Region Dopers (NY): Are all these clouds scaring you, too?

I see a pit thread about this, but I’m not really that mad, more worried at this point. It’s been something on the order of five weeks of consistent clouds. Most of the time it doesn’t even rain. Just thick, heavy, low-lying clouds. And on top of it all, the few days of sun are partly sunny.

Are we ever going to get sunny days again? Is this out of a science fiction novel? Are we all doomed…DOOMED??

5 weeks of consistent clouds? Are you serious Anaamika? Here in Florida we go crazy if we get two consistent cloudy days in a row. I think that Upstate NY is a beautiful place, but if I had to live with all the cold weather in the winter and then 5 weeks of clouds, I’d be on the edge of killing myself.

Anaamika get away from that window now!!!

Sending you sunny warm thoughts!

Scared? No. Fed up? Oh, yeah!

I was just outside after lunch and looking at the sky and thought it felt more like early October. Even the clouds look “fall-like”, (whatever that means).

I’m tired of this shit. I had to use a rare window of opportunity last night to weed the flower beds, while my husband weed-whacked. I don’t know when the lawn will be mowed.

Since we moved into our house last month, we’ve been meaning to buy a patio set for our deck, but there hasn’t been much nice weather to motivate us.

So much for Memorial Day weekend. I think I’ll just spend it at Macy’s.

Western Mass Doper here,

My concern is that when we do get any sun, it is during the workweek (while I’m working, how convienient), and then, no matter what the forecast has been, on Friday the weather changes to cold/rainy/cloudy until just before sunset on Sunday when the clouds part and tease me with a ray or two of sunlight.

I’m really starting to develop a complex about this. This week is nice because at least there appears to be no hope of anything but clouds and rain for the next seven days.

Sorry, just needed to vent, my IRL friends are probably sick of hearing me rant about the weather, I figured I’d share with you guys…

Heh, I was down in that region this past weekend, and I got sunburned all over my face and neck because the few hours there was sun on Saturday, I as outside sitting in it listening to a crappy speach by Hilary Clinton, and then watched over a thousand people have their name read as they walked across a stage.

Ooh! Ooh! I’ve got this one.

What is, RPI’s graduation? Can I have Capital Region events for $1000, Alex?

Let me guess. Hilary was wearing a black suit with either a pink or a blue button-down shirt. Whoo-ee, does she ever need a stylist!

Poonther: A month or two ago we here in Florida had, what, 5 days in a row where it was cloudy? I thought I was going to die from lack of sunlight or something.

rackman: As a former resident of Western MA, I can sympathize. I still find it terribly depressing to go back there in the non-summer months.

Hey, I feel for you, friend. We lived a number of years in North Greenbush and in Altamont. Last statistic I heard was that the average number of sunny days per year was, ready? 69.

That is why we now live in Arizona which averages more than 300 sunny days/year. Hot, yeah, but no snow to shovel either.

Well…maybe, but if she did, on top of it was a ceromonial graduation robe.

Really???

Oh, they must mean hot & sunny, because we do get plenty of sun in the winter. It’s usually really low, blinding us when we drive, and doesn’t give the least bit of warmth.

What really sucks about the weather lately is that my boss rarely leaves in the middle of the day to play golf. I live for those breaks when he’s not halfway up my ass.

Oh…right. Duh. :smack:

It would be great if it’d get EITHER warmer OR sunnier. Just one or the other would be SOOO much better. This cold and cloudy crap sucks. I wanna go rollerblading!!

We FINALLY have sunshine up here in Toronto today! HA!

(…Maybe we’re sending the clouds south. Sorry, Ana! eep)
