D’oh, you had me up to calling Typho a Jango clone. Typho is Patanka’s (sp?) nephew and, unless Patanka’s brother is a test tube, has a family tree to back that up. Yes, yes, I know the whole Uncle-Father-Sister-Step Brother stuff is being thrown around willy-nilly in the SW universe these days, but they just look alike. The end. I don’t plan on convincing anyone (see the thread on Misused words in IMHO) but I don’t plan on being convinced otherwise either unless Georgie boy comes out and says “Introducing Typho Fett.”
Why would the cloners lie to Obi-Wan when they told him they clones were all from Jango Fett? They thought they were speaking to a representative of the Jedi who ordered up the clones ten years earlier.
Who says he’s lying? The order Palpatine placed were of Jango clones. Why is the addition of a separate order by an unknown party of Typho had to comprehend?
Aw, crap. Thus endeth my theory. And I really thought I had something going!
All right, I’m back in the “looks like Typho but is actually a Jango clone because they TOLD us they were Jango clones” camp.
I still think they look like Typho but I suppose I’m just reading in to it.
Maybe Jango is actually a clone of Typho (the original DNA source), age accelerated all the way to 35/40ish years old, Boba’s just a plant to throw Obi Wan off, and the whole Republic crumbling into ruin thing is really a plot by the Kaminoans!?!?!
I think that the Cafeteria Clones are a morphed/partially CGI’d Morrison, that ended up happening to look unfortunately like Typho. Maybe the post production on the cafeteria scene was so far removed from anything with Typho in it that they didn’t realize it until late in production, and couldn’t redo the whole scene.
And was it just me, or did that Cafeteria Clone glaring at the guy next to him look a lot less like a “genetically altered to be more servile” clone and more like a “I’m tired of looking at 200,000 guys that look exactly like me and I’m about to go postal with this fork” clone?
Yay! ** Sunshine** is a convert! Welcome back to the Light Side
And yes FDF, I thought that same thing. That was one pissed off clone! Of course, maybe he’s just mad that he looks more like a bit player than a way cool bounty hunter
I have a new theory that will satisfy all parties, for it is absolutely indisputable.
The clones are Mon Calamari wearing masks. Either that or shaved Wookies. No wait, they’re a hybrid! Yeah, a cross between Admiral Ackbar and Chewie! In rubber masks!
I just figured that the center clone looked pissed off because the Kiminoans didn’t figure the clones needed good food, just basic nutrients. He definitely looked like he was looking for a head waiter to complain to.
Now, let’s all say it together, in very small words: There is no reason put forth in this movie to believe that Typho is a clone or has ever been cloned from. Yeah, the clones in the cafeteria bear a passing resemblance to Typho, but they are stated to be copies of Jango Fett (and are played by Temeura Morrison), who is not a clone of anybody. Why do I insist that Jango’s not a clone (besides the fact that this was not even hinted at in the movie?) - a clone would not be a great source of genetic material. You’d wind up with mistakes, like a second-generation Xerox.
I do, however, suspect that Ewan McGregor is a clone of Sir Alec Guinness.
I would argue that it is much more than a “passing” resemblance, but I agree that Lucas’ intention was probably to show a younger, scarless Jango. (Unless the next one reveals that Typho is a clone, at which time I’ll resurrect this thread, dance a jig and sing Halelluiah).
I’d agree with that. When I first heard he was going to be Obi-Wan in TPM, I thought to myself “He better be damn convincing, otherwise I’m going to be sitting there watching Obi-Wan use the Force to find the dirtiest toilet in Scotland.” I was pleasantly surprised in TPM, and I think he’s nailed it in AOTC. Hell - he even sounds just like Alec Guiness.
I’m waiting to find out when Anakin picks up that British accent he had when Luke unmasked him in ROTJ…
…and peace reigned throughout the land.
My wife was saying she saw some old movie with Alec Guiness as a young man, and he sounded completely different.
The Dark Side, of course! That’s why all the Empire’s officers were British, They’re evil!!!

Dooku, I stand corrected.
FACTS:
Jango Fett (not a clone): Temuera Morrison
Boba Fett (a non-accellerated clone) : Daniel Logan
Clones at 10 years old: Daniel Logan
Clones at 20 years old: Bodie “Tihoi” Taylor
Captain Typho (not a clone, nephew of Captain Panaka): Jay Laga’aia
PROOF:

Bodie, Daniel, and Tem are all Maori
Jay is Samoan
All are of Kiwi / New Zealand origin.
{Adam West voice} Good work, Guano Lad! I think you’ve finally put this to rest, chum!{/Adam West}
I stand corrected, I guess Bodie Taylor was shown without his helmet…and I guess that wasn’t Temeura Morrison in the cafeteria. Still, I stand by my McGregor/Guinness theory. I also believe that Mace Windu is a clone of John Shaft (“This party’s over!”)…that Mace Windu is one BAAAAD MUTHA…
Shut yo’ mouth!
And I’ll be happy to acknowledge I must have misunderstood Morrison’s claim that he was the clones in that scene, as long as we can agree that it ain’t Typho!
I’m just talkin’ 'bout Mace…
“Who’s the Jedi Master who will save you from disaster?
MACE!”
Tem was the voice of the clones, when they are soldiering aroubnd during the battle. He’s also the voice of the clone in upcoming video games, and the voice of Jango in his own video game. Very cool.
Ok now I wonder if this whole excersise shows you something about differenciating people of other ethnicities.
Apparently the “they all look alike to me” gene kicked in when three seperate actors appear to look like each other to some people.
I’m sure Samoans would be able to say that both Bodie “Tihoi” Taylor, and Temuera Morrison looked nothing like Jay Laga’aia and Maori would wonder how you could miss the fact that Bodie only superficially looked like Temuera and nothing like Jay.
This just reminded me of a chapter in my old Psych book.
Of course, it will be discovered in Episode III that Jango Fett’s allergy to pet hair will be discovered and the clone army will be routed with the most convenient furry animals available - Ewoks!
