Captain America 2 - Open Spoilers

The other Council members…

…was Fury flying that helicopter himself, I think he was.

Probably a half-dozen nurses, anesthesiologists, whoever cleans his room… seriously, by the end of the movie, dozens of people knew he was still alive.

Homer Simpson: I’ve made my choice.

I think you’re confusing her with Megan Fox.

They’re the same person. Just one of them is blonde.

All dead (excepting Jenny, presumably). Redford nametag’d them to death. And Fury was flying the helicopter himself.

I figured that Zola was actually on the thumbdrive, and that the gigantic room full of ancient computers was just the equivalent of a graphics card to run the video screens.

That would be a nice touch for Agents of SHIELD. Have Jenny guest-star at the start of next season as the Council member trying to keep SHIELD going and active.

Scarlett Johannson is way sexier than Megan Fox, and a better actress to boot. And while that Vanity Fair cover is nice, I agree that it really doesn’t do her justice. But that’s probably mostly the fault of the magazine photo retouchers, not Johannson.

Shit, that’s right, I forgot that.

Which would mean he’s also on a satellite, no?

Has the theory that Zola is the Clairvoyant been discussed much, BTW?

I liked it. But it was over-hyped. Several people told me prior to seeing it that it was the best comic book ever. That it set a new bar that no one would ever meet.

That’s overstating things.

What I liked:

The Fury vs fake cops shootout in his SUV. Great stuff. I expected the car to fly, but not that way!

The SHIELD civil war. I didn’t think they’d show that many “good” SHIELD people getting gunned down basically helplessly. In the control room or the pilots.

Speaking of dying pilots. The Winter Soldier really likes breaking things. He was great, in all respects.

The bad:

Gary Shandling added no value to the movie. He should have been edited out to save time.

Even if you did that, the movie was too long. I know, it’s not abnormally long by movie standards. But it had a simple plot, and not too many characters. This isn’t the Avengers. It should have been shorter.

The ending was perilously close to being a LOTR style never ending. It could have cut with Captain being dragged out of the muck by Bucky and that would have been fine. The chatting by the gravestone and burning of Fury’s passports was a waste of time.

The Senator getting his was closure for Iron Man 2. Although they could have cut his main scene completely and just shown him getting arrested at the end.

Agree completely. It should have been about 18 minutes shorter.

The chat and Fury’s departure set up the next set of movies. Necessary exposition, IMO.

I agree as to the ending, silenus. But I thought the whole movie was well-paced and not overlong.

Nope. She trots out the same stupid cartoonish “Sexy” bag of tricks for every one of her “Sexy” photoshoots.

Let me reassert that I do think that Johansson is a beautiful and sexy woman. In candid photos she is beautiful and sexy. In interviews she is beautiful and sexy. In her film performances she is beautiful and sexy.

But when she does a “Sexy” photoshoot, she looks retarded.
And I mean retarded. She looks like she needs an inclusion facilitator to help her play nice with the other kids and to make sure she doesn’t set fire to the toy box. She looks like she might wander into traffic or put a fork into an electrical outlet.

Vapid eyes, blowjob lips, and cartoonish poses. She plays a very limited range when asked to be sexy for the camera and she always comes off looking like she’s trying way too hard.

Stupid Sexy Johansson!
Stupid Sexy Johansson!
Stupid Sexy Johansson!
Stupid Sexy Johansson!Stupid Sexy Johansson!
Stupid Sexy Johansson!

In general, I found the pacing fine. But I thought both the Falcon vs aircraft and Cap vs Bucky end fight went on too long. They could have tightened both with some judicious editing. That and the previous cut I mentioned would have gotten most of the 18 minutes I cited. But that’s just a personal opinion. Otherwise I thought the movie was great.

Not in my opinion. The people who told you those things were correct IMHO.

And “sexy” photoshoots all use the same stupid retouching techniques. Yeah, she might be doing stupid poses and gestures, too, but dollars to donuts that she’s doing them because the photographers are telling her to. The fact that she doesn’t do all those stupid things when she’s not doing a “sexy” photoshoot tells me that they’re not her idea.

And Captain America 2 was certainly a good movie, but I have a hard time saying that it was better than The Avengers. I’d say it was probably the third best superhero movie, after The Avengers and The Incredibles. Maybe fourth, after The Dark Knight.

My favorite!

I’m afraid I don’t see bienville’s case. She looks hot in all those shots - except the broken one, of course. I agree she’s hotter in action, but the fashion photos work for me as well…she mostly looks arrogant/proud not vapid, IMO.
