Captain America 2 - Open Spoilers

The Losers was a cool movie … did Chris Evans get a nose job between Losers and the next Cap America movie? His nose looks pointier than it did in Losers.

As has been previously mentioned, what’s with all the machine guns, assault rifles and a gatling gun never hitting Cap’s legs?

Also, if Winter Soldier could get a magnetic bomb under Fury’s SUV, why not make it powerful enough to just destroy the car? Surely the Shield/ Hydra bomb techs know the structural strength of Fury’s car. They could have made a “tank-killing” mine instead of a car-flipping one.

Good point. A shaped charge could have introduced a plasma stream into the passenger compartment for a much more thorough solution.

Part of the established canon for how Cap’s shield works (i.e., it always works). I remember a comic where somebody shot some miniature sai at him with a sai-throwing gun; he had his shield slung across his back and the sai all glanced off the shield, even though his head was right there.

I’m trying to figure out how, if the shield can absorb Thor’s hammer blow, how was he able to punch somebody through it? Also, its shielding power was based off of absorbing vibration (not kinetic energey), and whenever somebody hits it (like, say, Thor), it rings like a bell, aka, it vibrates.

Probably size-related. A shaped charge magnetic mine large enough to penetrate Fury’s defenses wouldn’t be all that man-portable if they want to keep it discreet. Or as discreet as you can be when you are blowing things up in the middle of a city.

Easier just to bring in a muj with an RPG. :stuck_out_tongue:

Maybe Fury has reactive armor under his car.

Eh, Fury himself was able to use a hand-held device to cut through the car. If he can do it, then the Winter Soldier (who, remember, has access to SHIELD’s tech, too) should also be able to do it.

I said this in one of the AOS thread. I don’t think it got much traction when I said it, but I said at the time that I thought it was fairly obvious that he WAS the clairvoyant, or at the very least his system of numbers/profiles/dossiers-on-people is.

This was addressed in Agents of Shield the week after the movie:

Fitz invented the mouse hole device. He submitted it for testing, but said it was never issued. Garrett had never seen it before, and something like “The bigwigs always get the best toys.” So apparently Fury put it on the “director’s eye-only” list and only gave a few out.

WAG: The star in the shield functions like the bright yellow symbol on Batman’s chest, it’s there as a target so opponents will by default be aiming at his most armored spot.

I agree that the shield has inconsistent and contradictory properties. But, how would those properties affect bullets missing the shield entirely and shredding Cap’s legs?

You are clearly a person of incredbile intellect and keen insight, because I could’ve written that myself - well, except for The Dark Knight part. Iwould’ve said Superman or Batman or Mystery Men.

This was probably the biggest glaring error I found in the movie. The shield is made of Vibranium, and should absorb ANY impacts, regardless of which “side” of the shield it came from. Worth a mention that in the comics (tho this has been retconned) the shield was originally (proto) Adamantium (same as Wolverine’s claws/skeleton), not Vibranium. Black Panther/Wakanda hasn’t even been conceived of yet in the Marvel universe.

The other issue that bugged me was the shooting, and lack of skill therein. Not bothering to shoot at Caps feet when that’s the only bit exposed - ridiculous. Also the gunners shooting at Falcon while he was flying around the Helicarriers. From even basic video game playing I know that you have to shoot AHEAD of moving objects. Then you adjust how far ahead you’re shooting until you get it. The gunners (or automated systems?) controlling the guns couldn’t seem to fathom this - every shot seemed short, like they were aiming at where he was, not aiming ahead. C’mon he wasn’t moving THAT fast…

Overall highly enjoyable. Better than the first one, which I felt spent WAAY to long on the Cap “Stageshow” (which they completely made up for the movie. why?)

Surprised nobody has mentioned the elevator scene, one of my favorites. As each bit of beefcake gets on, tension building, and Cap quips: “Before we get started, does anyone want to get out?”

I would have liked if someone said, “Actually, I’m just trying to get to accounting…”

I thought much the same

To give a reason for a grown man to dress like that.
