The trailer was just released and it looks pretty wild.
I am an unapologetic fanboy nerd lover of the first one, so my feelings on this trailer are fair and unbiased.

YES. I like that we got some Falcon action in the trailer… wish his suit had more color.
Is there a particular reason your link jumps 35 seconds into the video?
The elevator scene was great.
I didn’t realize that. I was watching it embedded originally and it froze up on that page so I opened it on Youtube’s site to watch it, so it’s from that.
I’m pretty interested in this… Captain America being such a traditionally gung ho flag-waving hero, kind of by definition, stuck in a more complex world where it’s not clear who the good guys are, has all sorts of potential for actual interesting plot development. Plus ass-kicking.
Oh and my rewind button doesn’t work, so I had to flip it over and fast forward.
I like that idea too. I read it described as a political thriller and I think the idea of the 40s-era square optimism of Cap versus the modern age sneaky bastard cynicism was plenty of potential for good storytelling.
My only complaint on seeing it, and this is minor, is that Winter Soldier looks kind of stiff. I imagine the mask and costume are hard to work with, but I hope he looks a little smoother in the final product.
Hey, it’s Captain America versus Batman Begins!
Don’tletitsuckdon’tletitsuckdon’tletitsuck…
I’m trying not to get too invested because it might suck. It doesn’t HAVE to suck, though. (I liked the first movie quite a bit but feel they dropped the ball in the third act and chickened out on going full-vintage with it.)
My only question is…why April, for crying out loud?
May is pretty much the kickoff of the summer movie season, and the first weekend in May is usually the opening slot for whatever new Marvel movie is out that year. (The first Cap got a July release, but that was probably because Thor claimed the May release, and July was within the summer movie season, anyway.)
Why such an odd release date for a tentpole movie that’s part of a phenomenally successful movie series?
May of 2014 is Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X-Men: Days Of Future Past. Marvel’s gotta beat 'em to the punch.
I thought at one point this was supposed to come out this fall or be a Christmas movie.
I just don’t want this release date to harm the movie. I love the movieverse Captain America.
I really enjoyed the first one, but what I think I liked most about it, and what made it stand out was the 1940s setting. While this looks good, it doesn’t really look all that different than any other recent action movie; that could have easily been the trailer for GI Joe.
Looks awesome. I wish it were out today.
IO9 was pretty quick to break down the trailer:
For what it’s worth Thor: The Dark World was apparently pushed back to coming out this fall.
The Hellcarrier goes down again? That thing’s about as durable as a Yugo.
I think the entire purpose of a Helecarrier is to show how badass the enemy is because he can bring it down. It looks like evil Robert Redford is massing a fleet of them, so if one or two go down, that’s just how you play ball in Washington, right?
I had no idea Redford was in this/doing superhero stuff. Interesting.
Overall, that was pretty cool trailer-wise. I’m interested.
