Car insurance quotes

I need to renew the insurance on our Jeep and I have been
looking for a website that will give me price quotes. The crinkle is that the car is not located in the US, but overseas. Local insurance is only a legal nicety. I’ve gone thru Yahoo search, but so far have only come up with sites that insure in the US or individual companies. Any suggestions?

Try calling GEICO. Being that they originated as an insurance company for government employees, they still might have insurance plans for vehicles located overseas.

Why can’t you use a USA insurance agent? Did you call a few & find out? They can insure in Mexico, so what country you have in mind?

Insurance policies are generally issued under state laws
and according to the area where you live. All the websites I visited had US states only. I did contact GEICO and I am waiting for their response. I was hoping to find a site similar to several stateside where you submit your proposal and get bids back a la priceline.com. I went thru Yahoo and AskJeeves without much success. I guess I just have to hit individual companies. Thank you very much for your help.

It just occured to me: is there a "yellow pages for websites like we have for business, residences, fax machines and tollfree numbers?

Oh GOD no don’t use Geico!!! PLEASE! They are one of the largest radar gun donators there is! Okay, a little back story. Most car insurance companies use a part of their profits to purchase radar units to be given to police stations. Nice giving back to the community, right? Think again. They are doing it because more radar guns there are, the more speeding tickets are written. The more tickets written, the more insurance hikes for offenders. The more hikes, the more cash.

DO NOT USE GEICO UNLESS YOU LIKE PAYING SPEEDING TICKETS!
