I mentioned this in another thread, but I recall the rights to a Peanuts live-action movie were acquired by John Hughes about 10 years ago. Fortunately, Hughes has seemed to have lost interest in the project.

Actually, a live-action Peanuts might work if they can successfully capture the humor of the strip when it was at its peak in the 1960’s and get the right director (NOT John “Let’s see how many times I can redo Home Alone before people catch on” Hughes). Wes Anderson frequently references Peanuts in his movies so he might be a good candidate.

I had an idea a while back to make a Clutch Cargo parody. Film live actors who don’t talk, just make gestures, then draw in moving lips and dub the dialogue. Sort of the Anti-Clutch.
I still think it could be amusing.

They definitely should not make The Lord of the Rings into a live action movie. Ralph Bakshi’s epic fantasy masterpiece should not be defiled!

I just hope they never try to make Speed Racer into a live action movie. Prolly want to get Tom Cruise to play him and Liam Neeson as Racer X. I’d peg Penélope Cruz as Trixie, but she’s out of the picture…

Rosie O’Donnell might make a good Spritle, however. Not sure who could play a decent Chim-Chim.

Ach, laddie. I’ve seen the acursed video myself. A copy rests on my hard drive, in fact. I keep it only in case someone, in the far future, ever claims that such a horrible pilot could never be produced. But I’ll never forgot…as much as I might want to.
