Castle - 2010-04-12 [open spoilers]

Did anyone else solve this on pretty much the moment they found the notebook and read the changed sign-off and then spend the next 40 minutes twiddling their thumbs waiting for Beckett and Castle to catch up?

(Forgive me if there’s already a thread for this, I could not find it, but my Dope-Search-fu is usually weak.)

I figured who the killer would be at about that point, though not the reasoning behind it.

My favorite moment, though, was the Ocean Spray ad during one of the commercial breaks. Considering cranberry juice was used as the murder weapon, it was a particularly odd product placement.

I didn’t see it but I got home in time to see half of Nathan Fillion’s interview on Kimmel. He was hilarious.

Bill Bellamy, Dan Corteze…I spent the episode thinking “Damn, Duff got hotter!”

I knew the actress screwing Castle wanted a part in the movie.

They were cute scenes. No wasted time. Hop on the bed and get to it.

It’s not uncommon to have a fairly big name be the murderer, so it didn’t surprise me much, though I was concentrating less on the mystery as all the fun banter and back-and-forth.

Plus, Kelly Carlson’s a cutie so I wouldn’t mind her popping up again next season (and yes, Castle’s been renewed, so there will be a next season. Yeah!).

I was shocked that French Stewart looked so old. He’s gained weight since his 3rd Rock days.

It’s kind of sad seeing him take such a tiny part.

Yeeessssss! (fist pump)

He was really good. He needs his own show. He only had ten lines and yet was fantastic.

I guessed it was him from the beginning just by the oddness of having a real host at the desk and some weird sub-host on the couch. Are there real talk shows like that?

It was weird seeing Kelly Carlson playing something other than Kimber. I almost didn’t recognize her. And yeah, though I couldn’t see her as the detective, I could see her as Nikki Heat…

Not really anymore, though Andy Richter second chaired for Conan for awhile, but yes. Ed McMahon was Johnny Carson’s sidekick. A bit of that role is generally filled by the bandleader (Paul Shaeffer, Kevin Eubanks) these days.

Yeah, they managed to poach on the histories of Carson (w/his couch sidekick and multiple wives), Leno (w/his lucrative contract and stand-up history) and Letterman (banging interns). The motive was still pretty flimsy–sure, he would have suffered some professional embarrassment by being let go, but killing his boss/friend still meant he was out of a job!

I thought they might have played up the betrayal aspect, or tossed in a “I saved his life in 'Nam and he does this to me”.

I’d also have thought Becket would be a little more upset about Castle’s boinking the actress, considering how seh was upset at him for talking to that FBI agent.

She knew the actress was angling for a role, and that it wasn’t a serious boinking - the FBI agent could have replaced her altogether - as she (the FBI agent) was another girl that Castle could’ve based his books on - and clearly Castle “knew” her.
