What kind of no-life havin’ curmudgeon (that’s right, they’re a curmudgeon) writes the post-master about a cat in the post office!? I hope now that Sammy is a bona fide customer, having a box and all, that he is allowed to take his rightful place back.

This is gonna sound mean, but I bet it was an uptight person that moved in from some urban area. We’ve seen things like that around here, people move in from a more populated area and then start complaining about things. Well hey city-slicker, the cat was there first!
I would guess that it’s more likely that some hunting dog owning, NASCAR loving, “the only good cat is a dead cat” hillbilly. I’m sure the asshole is some Dog vs. Cat nazi.
Or somebody with a hair-trigger cat allergy… on the level of going into anaphylactic shock, quick, where’s my inhaler? - type person.

Cats hunt mice. Mice nibble on paper, including letters. Ergo, the cat was a Post Office functionary, going about its lawful duties. Isn’t tampering with the mails a federal offence?
Our cats cut out the middle mouse and just shred the mail themselves.
I wasn’t aware that you had to pay federal taxes to be allowed to enter a federal building.
I don’t buy this, because there are cats everywhere. A person who is that sensative, would have to be prepared anyway.
Anyone who is that deathly allergic to cats would find there hair everywhere. Just look in a line anywhere, I see people all over the place covered in animal hair.

Unless the cat is earning an income, why should he pay taxes?

Why on earth would anyone act on only one complaint? Even if the person was allergic, I still think this is an overreaction and I’ll send Sammy a card of support.
Even if there is a regulation that says someone can be banned from a federal building for not paying taxes, would that really apply to a cat? The wording of the law would have to specifically apply it to non-humans in order to cite it as reason for keeping Sammy out. I think, if Sammy has a semi-decent lawyer, he has a good case and should be able to get the ban lifted. He should at least try to get an injunction right away to protect his rights until an actual ruling comes down.
Or maybe I’m taking it way too seriously.
Anyway, I do hope someone will post Sammy’s PO address, so folks around the country can send him some nip or toys or some such.
