Cat really exists

I’ve actually had her since Dec. 22, 2024, but I just now got a good pic of her. to prove she exists. Trying to figure out how to post it.

Mmm, no evidence here!

You’ll want to put it on a hosting service like Imgur or Flickr, then post the link. If that’s not working, I can PM you my personal email and you can send the picture to me and I’ll post it.

Well, I have pasted the properly sized image into the message, and it at first displsys it correctly in the opposite sample display, but then
will not let me post post it.

You need the link to the picture on the hosting service. The board software does not allow direct imbedding of images (or any other file, really).

Cat got your… uh… cat picture?

Upload the photo to a hosting site such as @Seanette suggests. Then click on the photo at the hosting site and then copy and paste the URL in the address bar at the top (usually) of your browser window, not a link to the picture itself.

Hope this helps!

In any case: welcome, cat! Who presumably has a name, approximate age, and story of coming to live with @RivkahChaya?

Our most recent cat had been “shy” of strangers to put it mildly. When somone would visit the cat would disappear, typically under the headboard of our bed.

Some relatives never saw the cat despite visiting several times and staying for days. A few only caught a glance when the cat disappeared around a corner on their arrival. Only one kid actually saw the cat, as it came out to sniff their shoes, etc. (The kid had a dog and that apparently intrigued the cat.)

Later, I would pull back the bed for the grandkid so they could see it. They would even ask to give the cat treats, etc. But the cat still wouldn’t come out.

When we went on trips, we had a neighbor come over to feed and water the cat. She only knew the cat was there and alive due to the cat toys being moved around.

Cat really exists

Tell that to Erwin Schroedinger.

He’ll only half-believe you.

At least three names.

I was once called upon to set up an infrared, motion-activated camera to get evidence that a cat really existed. I shit you not. There were other cats around, so the food disappearing and things being moved around was not incontrovertible proof.

What, is he simultaneously dead and alive?

I’m pretty sure about the ‘dead’ part.

I’m catnostic.

  • Save the pic to your computer.
  • Go to https://imgur.com/
  • In upper left corner click on “New Post” (green button)
  • Drag the pic from your folder on your PC on to the website (tells you where) and it will upload (or click “Choose Photo/Video” and browse to its location).
  • Copy the URL for the photo and paste it here in a post.

All of the above is free and Imgur does not require an account. Anyone can do it.

ETA: The whole world can then see the photo so be sure there is nothing in the photo you don’t want the world to see (cat seems ok).

This thread has one of the more entertaining titles I’ve seen in a while.

The above advice from @Whack-a-Mole is the way to go. But please, please, please don’t make the mistake that so many posters make, over and over again. When you get the image into the imgur site (I usually use the option to let me select a specific file) do NOT post that link. That’s what imgur considers to be an “album”. Right-click on the link, select “display image in new tab”, and then use that URL (ending in a .jpeg extension) to post to the board.

I should also have mentioned:

Imgur scrubs metadata from the photo on their website so no one can figure out where you live (or whatever else like what phone/camera you used and other things). So in that respect it is safe to use (I think they might keep some but nothing that would make you identifiable).

Also, what @wolfpup said.

Site Feedback is the forum on this board that discusses the board software and how to use it properly. There is a thread there devoted to showing how to imbed images properly.

I personally use Imgur to upload photos to share. It’s easy to do, I can even upload from my phone using their app, it’s free, and Imgur images seem to work well with this board.

Selina Kyle, Nina for short, and sometimes Ninotchka.

Just Nina at the vet, though.
