I hope you realize that harping on a minor misspeak after an apology has been issued is indeed, making you look like an idiot.
Three things.
- I could care less about racist speech. Who the hell cares.
- I love to read Cat Whisperer’s posts. I find her interesting.
- BMada may struggle to post clearly (I do too). But I call bullshit on folks who blink and act like they have no clue what he is talking about. In Cat’s clarification, she clearly says that a group of people are bringing discrimination down on their own heads by their actions. That doesn’t make much sense.
I’m entertaining the idea that I have not been able to make my point in this area understandably, so I’ve asked for some expert advice to help me clarify. I don’t think I’m a racist, but I suppose most racists don’t think they are.
I don’t think you are either. Any more than the rest of us.

Well, you don’t have a problem with being self admittedly and unapologetically prejudiced.
Quite some time ago in this thread you called me an asshole based solely on the brand of motorcycle I ride.
Dammit. I’m going to give myself a headache. I actually don’t agree that her statement was prejudiced in Mass’ example. If she thinks that asshole = people that would operate loud vehicles, then that doesn’t seem prejudiced to me.
I must respectfully submit that I still think people who drive loud bikes, trucks and cars are assholes. If that opinion puts you in the “asshole” category, Critical Mass, you are more than welcome to put me on “ignore.”

Cat Whisperer IMHO your statement in the other thread was ham-handed and overly simplistic. It sounded ignorant, if not somewhat racist.
Further, I would submit that any marginalized, socially disadvantaged group that has had the history of the Canadian First Nations will have members that behave in a way which may be off putting to others.
However, members of well to do, wealthy, etc groups may also behave in ways which may be off putting to others. That being said, saying ‘Speed boat owners deserve the bad reputation they have.’ is not going to rile people up the way that your statement did.
Your clarification fell short of clearing things up. I suspect that you have a better knowledge of aboriginal issues than your posts suggest. If you care to elucidate your point is entirely up to you.
Finally, this pitting is really, really badly constructed and makes the OP look like kind of a tool.
Also, I have it on good authority that the cats belonging to you and Jim are equal in goodness, despite his post to the contrary.
Okay, I still haven’t seen a formal apology or retraction of the statement I deem racist. If there is one somewhere please feel free to link it in this thread so I can read it.
Let me ask you this in all honesty. If I said I was Native and said I take great offense to this statement and correction what would your response be?
Would you straight up apologize and retract? or would you keep the statement and correction as is and expect me to deal with it because that’s what you think and will continue to think?
Next, what if the word “Natives” was substituted with the words “Black, Asian, Muslim, Gay” or any other minority/race/religion? Would you have continued the thought and hit the “submit reply” button? Would you find the need to apologize in any instances and rather than correct the statement, just outright retract it?
Please ask yourself those questions and try to be honest with yourself in each instance. I would like to know your honest thoughts.

I had to look up what draw stumps meant. I have to ask why is the onus on me to stop? Is it because I’m the one being piled on for my incoherence? I’m trying to fix whatever incoherence i created and trying to get a discussion flowing with someone i want to regret making a dumb statement. Is it because racism is a hot topic and makes people uncomfortable? I’m trying to get Cat Whisperer to see something in a different way, something that isn’t natural for her.
If you’re not Native, you have no apology owed. If she kicked a Native, would she need to apologize to you? She already retracted and clarified. What’s wrong with you that you can’t stop complaining unless she also tells you she’s sorry? If you can’t stop crying until she apologizes to you, then you have a problem. If you are Native, then say so, and have a meaningful discussion.
I’m not looking for an apology directed at me, I’m looking for an apology period. Any natives that come into this forum deserve that don’t you think? Why is it that you seem to think I’m crying and that Cat Whisperer isn’t in the wrong? She’s pretty much making light of the situation, like oh yay my first pitting, why not get in her face about that?
What happens if nobody but you thinks an apology is owed? Do you hold your breath until you pass out or what?
