I loved this show the first few seasons, but stopped watching around the time Vincent moved to California. The cousin or whoever they brought in to replace him just didn’t work for me. (I guess he didn’t work for anyone – he seems to be gone. What happened to him?)
It’s on after Amazing Race, so I’ve caught the first 10 minutes or so several times this season – but I ended up watching the whole ep last night. And I have some questions:
[ul]
[li]Where’s Bruce?[/li][li]Who’s Cheech Marin playing? He and Maxine had a fling, apparently, but who is he?[/li][li]Who’s the guy who wants Amy to run for the senate?[/li][li]Why did Vincent come back and what’s he doing?[/li][li]I gather Donna went to law school – yay her! (okay, that’s not a question)[/li][/ul]
That’s about it. Answers appreciated to any of the above – or if there are any other plot twists of interest from the last three or four seasons, feel free to throw them in as well.
Thanks!
I’m not sure where Bruce is, but he has been around as Amy’s CSO this season- just not last night. (The possibility that I missed something the previous week is certainly there).
Cheech Marin is a landscaper by the name of Ignacio (which may not be spelled correctly)who was hired to remove a tree that fell down last winter (last season). He and Maxine dated for several weeks and then it was revealed that he had never gotten a divorce from his wife. Maxine dumped him. He got a divorce, and started pursuing her again. They were “friends” and had dinner one evening- leading to sleeping together. Maxine declared that event a non-event to be forgotten. And so they have gone back to their usual push and pull relationship. (Or is that Maxine’s usual push and pull relationship?)
Why Vincent came back? I’m not entirely sure. (I’ve always kind of wondered whether he left for character related reasons or actor related reasons, and his return has not clarified the matter to me). What is sure is that he left his wife behind in California- and the wife had had an affair with her oncologist. Vincent has no money- and had lost the will to write. He worked at a shelter for a while, and now is teaching writing at a juvenile prison. (Though that may not be exactly what it’s called. it has been a long day)
The guy who wants Amy to run for senate just showed up a couple weeks ago (i think, no promises, it’s been a long day. Also, my patience for watching the show is getting less and less, so I may not remember things correctly). I think his goal is to put Amy in the Senate (or at least the race for the senate) and capitalize on her fame. He got her into major trouble a few weeks back by tricking her into saying something about the juvenile justice system which ticked off the lawyers in the system big time- so they papered her(a technique for causing life at the courthouse to come to a screeching halt. ) Guy who wants Amy to run for senate hoped she’d quit the judge thing and agree to run for Senate at that point, but he underestimated her will (or something).
Yes, Donna went to Law School. She’s been doing that for a long time, but she finally finished and then was afraid to find out whether she passed the bar or not. Amy fired her in a push the little birdy out of the nest move. Since then she’s appeared as a lawyer in Amy’s court several times.
Thanks, Eureka! Very helpful.
On Vincent going to California – it was about the actor wanting to “explore other possibilities.” I’m sad he’s back, in a way, since it means the actor (Dan Futterman) didn’t get the jobs I think he deserves.
If anyone else knows what the deal is with Bruce, feel free to chime in…
He quit last week because he thought Amy had lost her objectivity, and was becoming too much of an advocate for the children who appeared before her, instead of an unbiased judge.
