How do you keep your cat from being injured by the mousetrap?
Surely Nadia is not the only lazy feline on the dope. We need to set a trap that she won’t injure herself with. The rodent in question is the size of a Deer Mouse so the live traps designed for house mice aren’t usable. Perhaps Nadia isn’t so lazy as afraid.
Forget the traps – just cut down on how much you feed Nadia.
You could put the mousetrap someplace the cat can’t fit. Failing that, tape it inside a long box with small holes in the end, long enough that she can’t reach it with a foot. Mice are very happy exploring in small places!
Also, don’t use a poison-based trap! Cats will catch the dying mouse and get poisoned themselves.
That was the plan, but Mrs. Plant chickened out. She’s happy with a baffle so that the rodent and Naidia’s leg must make a turn to get to the trap. It’s a plastic storage container with snap on lid and the trap glued at the opposite end of an, er, mouse hole.
We’ll see how it goes.
Thanks!
