Possibly because he wants to be able to get experts to review the evidence for his side.
Duct tape or no duct tape, the evidence looks overwhelming and common sense indicated it was the mother quite a while ago.

I think this mom is going down for first degree murder. In addition to the duct tape, which is horrifying enough, they also found evidence on her computer that she googled “chloroform, neck break, household weapons, missing children, decomposition” and other questionable queries in the weeks before little Caylee went missing.
They also just announced on the news that forensic testing has linked the remains with “items from the Anthony house” but will not elaborate yet.
If this had been found a few weeks ago I doubt they’d have ever waived seeking the death penalty.
Legal question: in light of the new evidence, can the prosecution rescind that waiver?
I’m no legal expert, but I just heard on the news that yes, they can indeed rescind the waiver and seek the death penalty.
Oh, I most certainly agree. I’m just going to remain very skeptical of any news stories about the remains, (ETA: What they consiste of, what was found with them, their state, etc.) until the FBI/investigators release information about them. That may not happen until court. I’m content to wait. Get what I’m saying?
I’d say in this case it’s more likely to point to the on-purpose kind of murder. Either that or your regular old-fashioned shut-your-kids-up duct tape, I guess.
No news, and I think that’s driving the local news outlets nuts. Yesterday I saw a reporter who was timing how fast it took him to drive from the Anthony home to near where the body was found…40 seconds.
This isn’t CSI, we can’t solve the myster in 48 minutes, and it’s going to be at least a week for the FBI to come back the the results of the DNA testing, and that’s on a rush.
George and Cindy are back home, though, and according to Baez, Casey is “not doing very well at all.” I think she’s faking, FWIW.
Why would she be faking? they would have had a really hard time getting a conviction without the body, now that its been found its probably going to be open and shut. I’d be freaking out in her situation too. Of course shes not doing very well, she knows shes fucked now.
Faking as in the discovery of her daughter’s body is a shock, when she’d held out hope the baby sitter had her.
Well they didn’t say anything like that, they said shes “not doing well” which really could be taken several different ways. I can easily see her not doing well now that its very likely shes going to spend a long time in prison while before they found the body she would have likely walked.
When police told her a child’s remains had been found, she reportedly went into hysterics and collapsed and had to be sedated.
Now, as someone maintaining their innocence, that would be the reaction one would expect in being told your child is dead. Whether she collapsed because her daughter is dead or because she knows the gig is up, I don’t know. But I view her histrionics with a :dubious:
The meter reader who found the suspicious bag two weeks ago is the same person who reported a suspicious bag back in Auguston three consecutive days.
At the time, he was not employed as a meter reader.
The police are investigating their procedures to see how the initial reporting was handled. They are emphasizing the meter reader is not a suspect but instead a “credible witness.”
Caylee’s attorney is saying this calls the entire investigation into question.
I hope he is a credible witness because this all seems to me like something the defense will use to create reasonable doubt.
They are announcing now that the remains have been definitely identified as Caylee Anthony and the cause of death is homicide.
Dr. G has confirmed the remains are Caylee’s, and she’s ruling the death as Homicide of Unknown Method (I think that was the term. Basically, Caylee was murdered but she doesn’t know how yet.)
I’m off on medical leave and have basically spent my time up here in Canada, watching this unfold.
All I can say is ugh…
I’ve got a couple of co-workers who have been wondering about this and said how they will be getting emails about any developments!??! Sure enough, a call go up about 15 minutes ago announcing the latest headline, that they identified the body.
So bizarre to be subscribed to email notification of this.
CNN link announcing definately Caylee :(
I also heard, On Nancy Grace, so I take this with a grain of salt, that a few hours after Casey heard about the remains of a child being found she ordered a deck of cards and some snacks. If true, that is a little odd.
But everything about her is odd. My initial reaction is that she knows the gig is up.
Now that the DNA match is confirmed I wonder what the grandparents’ statement will be or if they’ll still proclaim their daughter’s innocence.
