Caylee Anthony's remains found?

In Georgia, they could get a search warrant and force her to provide a sample. I would guess that is true in every state.

If not, any female line member should work I would think (maternal aunts or great-aunts or their female offsprings). Unfortunately they can’t go with Caylee’s alleged father’s family since the bitch lies so much there’s no telling who he is or was.

They already have DNA samples from Casey. They took them while she was in custody. I read that in one of the investigator reports.

I never heard of these people before, but apparently there’s been a lot of news coverage of this case. Why? Children get murdered all the time. Why do “news” organizations occasionally pick one to concentrate on?

Because in this case, the child had been missing at least a month before the grandmother got suspicious when the mother (her daughter) wouldn’t show her the girl, and the grandmother thought she smelled decomposition from the trunk of the mother’s car.

The mother tried to claim she’d left the kid with a babysitter, who was just some random woman in the apartment building who’d never been their babysitter and felt like she was being made into a scapegoat. The mother lied that she was employed at a particular place and had been away working there for that time period, when she’d never actually worked there. And that she’d been doing her own investigations into her daughter’s disappearance (without calling the cops) when no one she knew had realized that her daughter was even missing, because she’d made other excuses for that. That’s just the tip of the iceberg! Add to that the fact that the grandmother has done a complete turnaround on the case, defending her daughter to serious levels of denial, and it’s really sad.

It’s public because this is its own particular level of crazy. It was publicized first because they thought it was a real missing child case, that the girl had been kidnapped by her babysitter, etc., but then the depths of what the mother had done shows at least insane negligence and uncaring, and probably being the cause of her child’s death (intentionally or unintentionally) with a concern-raising lack of caring about both the child and other people in the process.

Males in the maternal line would work too.
I’d forgotten about Trenton Duckett, but it has to be the little girl. Has anyone in her family said anything yet?

Darn you for actually making me laugh during this thread, I can’t revel in RO when I laugh.

I don’t think children get murdered “all the time.” That said, it’s because of the mystery…this wasn’t a case of abuse and immediate arrest, but one of the mother not telling anyone she didn’t know where her daughter was. For a month.

Oh, lord, the remains have duct tape across the mouth. :frowning: Story here.

Still not official, but it sounds like the cops are pretty sure it’s her. Hair color matches, and some other stuff.

Link.

I don’t know much about this case, and she may be guilty, but in cases like this it’s all too easy to frame someone.

The press has put so much information out there, it’d be easy, if the mum didn’t do it, for the killer to dump the body near her house.

I wouldn’t trust cops to tell the truth. If they THINK the mother did it and don’t have enough evidence, they simply drop what they need and VOILA everything fits in place.

It’s too easy to put evidence where it goes, and if you’re poor and/or have a crummy or overworked defense lawyer they can’t check everything.

Cops will say they have information they don’t have in hopes of getting a confession. Stupid people, innocent people confess. We have had two such child cases where the parent confessed and then withdrew the confession and later on DNA proved the parents DIDN’T do it, even though they confessed to it.

As hard as it is to believe people will confess to killing their own kid when they didn’t do it, it DOES happen and it’s happend before.

I’m not saying it IS in this case, but the CSI phenomenon over uses the cops ability and most jurors aren’t nearly smart enough to understand it correctly nor are defense attorneys smart enough (or can be bothered with) talking down to a jury so they can understand it

Great. The only hope left to cling to is that the kid didn’t suffer, but that doesn’t seem likely, huh?

There were no bone, and no toys, and no shamrocks. Just bits of plastic, is the last I’d heard of that. Leonard Padilla was really running a circus there, him, and that message board and that crazy old coot Murt. ETA: He’s a con man, by the way. Do a search for Murt and beaconhell if you don’t believe me. There is no love lost there for Murt.

I believe one of the guys Casey tried to say was the father demanded a paternity test. They could use that sample to compare? Dr. Jan G, from that television series is examining the bones now.

A skull was all the sheriff would admit was found, per the State Attorney’s gag order.

Except, that the place where the remains were found was underwater from about July on. Waist deep, the live coverage I saw yesterday said.

Not credible, it isn’t released by the sheiff, or the FBI, not credible. Just the phrasing of the headline is suspect. It says “mouth”, when a skull no longer has a mouth. Just a news station, trying to sell copy is all. ETA: Read further in the story. Strike that, but why would Baez’ office release such information so damaging to his client? Still suspect.

I didn’t know until recently that show is based out of Orlando, so a lot of the cases are Orlando cases.

I wonder if this will show up as an episode? Probably not until after a trial, if then.

I hope she does. After the trial, obviously, as you say. I love Dr. G. They showed the episode again last night where that teenager in San Antonio was killed by her mom and aunt. :frowning:

Duct tape would point to a kidnapping rather than accidental murder.
