I managed to get the sucker installed. I thought I specified EXTERNAL to my mother when she asked me what I wanted for Christmas. I hate messing with internal stuff.
Anyway, I managed to get it up and running, with only a minor scare when I started my computer up and got a “disk not ready, insert boot disk” message. I freaked out for a while, until I checked to see if I’d connected the cable from the motherboard to the hard disk securely. Whew.
Anyway, I was under the impression that I could not only record my mp3s, but also my wav files. Visions of mix CDs with songs interspersed with funny sound clips from TV shows and movies were dancing through my head.
So, I go to burn my first CD. I’m using the software that came with the CD writer (Hewlett Packard 9100), which is called HP MyCD, it’s not EasyCD, which is apparently the only software they have troubleshooting for on the HP website. Great.
Anyway, it scans my hard drive for audio files, it brought up all my mp3s, and a couple wavs from god knows where, I sure as hell don’t recognize them, but it didn’t bring up my wav collection.
Anyway, anyone know what I’m doing wrong? Did I give sufficient information?
