CDRW Drive Troubles

I have a verbatim 52x54x52 and have noticed recently that when I insert a CD, and eject it and reinsert another, the name that shows up is the name of the first cd. It seems like the drive isnt recognizing the name of the second (third, etc) cd that is put into the drive.

Any ideas what could be causing this? or a possible solution?

(p.s. ive checked for updated drivers but was unable to find any for this particular drive, and it seems to be using the generic MS drivers from July 1st 2001)

Firstly, do the contents of the second (third, etc) CD correspond to reality ? If yes, then it’s just that the CD name doesn’t show up rightly.

Secondly, if you press F5 (Refresh) in the “My Computer” screen, does the CD name refresh to the right one ?

Windows caches a lot of information including CD names. When you eject a disc it doesn’t necessarily clear the name from the cache.

To get round this, instead of ejecting by pressing the drive’s button, right click on the drive icon in My Computer or Windows Explorer and select Eject from the menu.

As suggested in the previous post, refreshing the screen should restore the correct name.
