Celebrities who were universally beloved by their peers

Ron Howard

I read, sometime in the late 70s/early 80s that he was also stealing a bunch of other show business people’s material, and they were all hot as mofos. (Stealing, as opposed for waiting for the jokes to get worn out.)

Damnit! I tried to get some of the dirt on Reeves a few years back, and nobody coughed up any. Can somebody with the dirt make a post in MPSIMS, or something about him?
Thanks.

Loach addressed this in post #25.

Coffee through nose report…

OK…tl:dr! How’s fucking that!!!

At any rate, I can’t really abide the disclaimer that he was ‘an inadvertent joke thief’, blaming his stream-of-consciousness style. Sounds a bit too suspicious for a professional entertainer/comic, etc…
Also: “he stopped listening to other comics”??? No way in hell. His PR man put that out.

He sort of admitted it several times in several sources including a '92 interview with Playboy, and later on with an interview with Mark Maron, but he never really sounded contrite. Even later on in life he never stopped lifting bits. I imagine it can’t be easy to live most of your life knowing most other comics hate your guts for one reason or another. Martin Short skewered Williams brilliantly on SCTV.

Anyway, I wouldn’t put him on either this list or the “most despised” list, though he probably belongs on both to some.
