Celebrity Apprentice (spring 2012) [edited title]

I only watched for this year’s cast. I really can’t stand Trump.

Subjective, of course. I did find myself laughing pretty hard, but also a bit shocked at some of the comments. I thought the music was well done and a good integrated program. I thought they did brilliantly at co-hosting and bouncing back and forth. No clear winner in my mind.

Okay, I missed the actual in the boardroom meltdown, but his backroom meltdown was about par for any of Lisa’s dozen meltdowns. And Arsenio actually regretted his behavior - not being angry, but his choice of words.

Both shows were great. Both PSAs were great. Penn’s theme really worked. Both parties seemed fun. Clay raised twice the money. Arsenio had a slightly better record: 2-0 over 1-1 for Clay.

It was a very even match, and both were deserving. I think it really did boil down to Arsenio’s butt-kissing and ego stroking. Clay’s big argument for why he should win was his charity was important to him, and he really didn’t want to be runner up on two competitions. Arsenio’s big argument was that he would forever be grateful to Trump, and strive to be the Trump banner of, um, whatever Trump is. Neither Ivanka nor Eric voiced a strong opinion. No surprises from the [del]peanut gallery[/del] former competitors.

I’m picturing this show without Donald Trump.

Wow, that could be great. Seriously, they should fire Trump and pick someone else.

I suggest…Quentin Tarantino. He’d be neat.

I award you three hard earned internet points.

But I also award myself 1.89 points for thinking of Mark Cuban. He’s doing a bang-up job over on Shark’s Tank (also a Mark Burnett production), has enough side projects that he could make the tasks very interesting (and even more self-promotional), has a likable(-enough) personality, and they’d be able to cut ties with Trump.

I think he’s the only real option. He’s a mogul, has made his money in business, and has enough media presence/personality to carry it off. But honestly, as much as we hate Trump, he’s the brand of a show that’s been on the air 14 seasons. It’s limped along, and then the Celeb version brought new life to the franchise. Part of the allure, it seems, is getting together with your buddies and talking shit about the dumb choices Trump makes. A new CEO, I think the potential for the audience to actually like the person is too great. Say what you will about Trump but he raises the same feeling of dread and ridiculosity in all of us…

No way, Trump is hilarious. His quirks and mannerisms and duck faces are entertaining. I quickly went from loathing Don Jr. to actually liking him, too.

The bigger problem with CA is the length. There is no way each episode needs to be 2 hours. There is especially no way that 4 hours had to be devoted to the final 2.

I would like the show more if the board room took up 15 minutes of air-time. It’s way too long and stupid.

That would cut down on Trump’s hair time tremondously.

Nice analysisof why Clay is the true winner.

Reading through Dalton Ross’s recap reminded me of some of the funnier moments from the Trumpster.

First, when Lou Ferrigno showed up, and was bragging about raising more money for his charity, and then handed an envelope to Donald Trump. What? Why is Lou handing the money he raised *to *Trump? I guess he remembered Gary Busey’s bit from last year, where he showed up and talked about the kite again, and then presented Trump with the kite that the company actually started using because of him. So Ferrigno figured he would pull that kind of a show off by giving something to Trump, and somehow that something became the money he raised.

Then there was Trump asking Victoria Gotti if her background helped her with how well she did on Celebrity Apprentice, even though she was the second one fired, and was almost fired the first episode.

Just found a blog post from several weeks ago by someone who shares my Ivanka love. Yes, let’s give her her own spinoff!

I like to think the reason Arsenio won was so that Aubrey would, yet again, be a creative force on the losing team.

I really got the impression that Trump got pretty sick of her, toward the final 5 episodes or so.
