Celebrity dopplegangers, the umpteenth thread

I was watching Wishmaster and Wishmaster 2 the other day, and I had to double check that the actor playing the human form of the Djinn wasn’t actually Ray Liotta; Andrew Divoff looked like SUCH a dead ringer for Liotta; the thin, tight upper lip, some of the mannerisms, even the acne scars or whatever they are on his cheeks. I think they could have easily been stand-ins for one another.

(The resemblance doesn’t really hold up as well in still photos, but while the video was playing it was stronger, i think)

Any other matches you’ve noticed recently?

I recently saw a movie costarring Charlie Heaton (you may know him from Stranger Things). For a short while I couldn’t decide if it was actually him or Harry Styles (formerly of One Direction). Stood next to each other they’re easy to tell apart but the resemblance plus the fact that I know HS has done some acting had me fooled for a few minutes.

Another recent sighting; while channel surfing I stopped for a moment and thought I was watching Tim Roth but then wasn’t sure if it wasn’t, indeed, Jake Weber. Again, not a great likeness, but the way the character was made up, I’m still not sure who it was. Unfortunately I can’t remember a thing about the few minutes I watched in order to look the film up.

Two names that I don’t recall, but anyway. . .

From memory, I would have sworn that

a) The ‘concierge woman’ in “The Producers” was Kathleen Freeman. Nope.
b) The belly dancer’s (eh, ‘manager’) in the Star Trek episode was Harold J. Stone. Nope.
c) Potiphar in the Donny Osmond “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” was Glenn Shadix. Nope.

That red haired woman on that TV show with Jason Ritter, “Kevin (Probably) Saves The World”… I thought for sure that was Amy Adams the first time I watched.

I’ve always maintained that Benicio Del Toro could be Brad Pitt’s ugly little brother, or possibly “homeless Puerto Rican Brad Pitt,” but as they age (they’re only a few years apart), BDT seems to get better looking while Pitt is kind of getting grimy. I predict they’ll converge in about 5-10 years.

I never noticed that, but you’re right!

I’ve always thought that Dennis Quaid could pass as Harrison Ford’s younger brother. He’s got that Han Solo/Indiana Jones flippant, rebellious smirk going on

The young Richard Kiel (Jaws from Moonraker) could have been Ted Cassidy’s twin brother.

Back in the 1970s there was a picture of a bespectacled man wearing a wig, and people around me were having a big argument over whether it was Peter Sellers or Woody Allen.

Ridiculous, right? They’re distinctly different people. But they both have those inverted triangular heads with ears that stick out, and with the wig to confuse the hair and head shape, the guy in the picture looked awfully ambiguous. And they were both in Casino Royale

9 posts and nobody has mentioned Tina Fay and Sarah Palin? Or Trump and Baldwin?

I think Kristen Wiig and Sarah Paulson could easily play sisters very convincingly.

Jesse Plemons is clearly at the very least a distant relative of Matt Damon.

I think in the Fargo season 2 thread someone kept referring to him as “Fat Matt Damon”.

John Mahoney of Frasier and Len Cariou of Blue Bloods.

I recently introduced author Joe Hill to a huge Stephen King who had never heard of him. When he saw Hill’s photo, his jaw just dropped. Of course, Joe Hill’s full name is Joseph Hillstrom King, and he looks like his father’s twin.

I always thought that Kate Mulgrew bore a striking resemblance to Katherine Hepburn. She actually played Hepburn in the play Tea at Five.

a lot of people have recently been pointing out the similarity between Willem Dafoe and Dennis Leary (although, on Googling it, I find that people have been remarking on that for over a decade)

I was just going to post this same observation!

Janis Joplin and Estelle Parsons. Janis is a younger version of Estelle.

Yes. My wife and I have to pull up IMDB to keep Aubrey Plaza, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and Krysta Rodriguez separated. They all look alike and are the same age (all born in 1984).

The first time I saw Geoffrey Rush I thought it was a somewhat pudgier James Woods. Could easily be brothers.
