God commands us to go forth, be fruitful and multiply … and He didn’t mean math …
God gave you those urges. Why are you denying God’s will?

A new poll should be done–and include the lifetime response.
About 40 years now. As I tell people “When it comes to sex, I just don’t give a fuck. Both literally and fugitively.”
6 years in my twenties. First gf and I didn’t even finish a box of condoms. I must have thrown them away after the first year of so of the dry spell. Not much happened for the next 2-3 years either. Now I grumble if Aunt Flo overstays her welcome by a day or two.
That’s what got me through the first 59 years, and it’s been fine for four years now. I simply don’t miss it if I focus on other things. 
Let’s see prostate cancer operation in 2008. It’s been about 10 years if you mean ordinary both-participating in the usual fashion sex.

About 6 months when I was in Vietnam. Met my wife in Hawaii, then another 6ish months. During the week in Hawaii it might have run up to 8 hours or so.

Lifetime response? If we’re talking partnered sex, then I don’t think I’ve gone more than a few months without since I was 17 (and I’m now 60). I don’t think I’ve gone without longer than a few weeks since before my mid 30’s. Fortunately the Mrs. and I have pretty much the same interests and drives regarding this activity. 
“Lifetime” response = still a virgin.
There have been a number of very long intervals mentioned and they as well as the “lifetime” response should be included in a new poll.
After my divorce about 4 years ago, I haven’t been intimate with anyone and to be honest it’s the last thing on my mind. I’m wondering if I should see my doctor because of my lack of a sex drive.
Agreed. Just more trouble and drama than it’s worth. I think you’ve got me beat, but I’m only somewhere in the neighborhood of four years behind you. I do regret one missed opportunity, but I’m absolutely positive it would have worked out painfully in the long run. I ran like a scared rabbit.
I voted in the original poll, but did not post. I’m not going to win for the longest period of celibacy, based on some statements here, but I’ll bet I’m in the top 5%. So, who’s going to do a new poll, and what will the options be?
