The 19th is good for me. Mapquest has it about 180 miles or 3 1/2 hours from Pittsburgh (that far?!) or most of a tank of gas from Pittsburgh, so if any Pittsburgh Dopers (Guinastasia, Chicago Faucet, Medea’s Child, Catsix, I’m looking yunz guys) are interested, let me know and we’ll make appropriate arrangements.

This is going to be FUN!
I got a definite commitment from supervenusfreak to make both a big bowl of pasta salad (because mayonnaise-based salads invite far too many opportunities for unfortunate digestive accidents) and homemade brownies. It’s heaven being involved with a cook!
There are two picnic areas on the map of the battlegrounds; if we plan to bring food we may want to meet up there. One is right in the middle of it all, between the electric map and the cyclorama (and also near General Pickett’s Buffet.) The second is at the southwestern “corner” of the park, on Warfield Ridge off the Emmitsburg Road.
I think that the first one would be good because it is close to many of the sights and sites. It would be easy to park nearby and wander around, join a tour or go shopping.
Here’s some info on park facilities – they say no grills. So what are we planning – BYO sandwiches and we each bring a dish to share?
Sounds like a plan. Over the coming weeks, let’s all post what we’re bringing so people don’t bring a lot of one thing.

I’d like to come if at all possible, and since it’s either the first day of summer vacation or the last Saturday of the school year, I doubt I’ll have committments. However, I’d need someone to pick me up from effectively DC, and that’s one heck of a drive. Unless, of course, iampunha and fizzlestothetop are coming, in which case I’d probably be fine.

Dear Twickster, could you spread the word and put together a busload from Phila? I’m thinking of True Pisces, Verrain, Frank #2, Doc Cathode, Mearos, moi, that_darn_cat and apologies to any other Philadopers whose names I’ve overlooked. I didn’t make the last meeting at Eulogy.

FWIW-there are also some walking ghost tours in Gettysburg that run year round.
Since you’re in the full court press for finals MsRobyn, give a holler for anything you need. I may take a few days to respond when I’m out of town for work, though.

I’ll bring veggie dip and veggies. It sounds like a cop out, but I have a great dip recipe. It takes three days to cure properly and is addictive.
It sounds interesting. I’ve never been to Gettsyburg and pun and I haven’t been to a fest since DopeaWeen. We’re due for a trek north anyhow. I’ll talk to him and see if he’s up for it. As far as I know we have no plans for the 19th.
