Cessandra (That's me!)

Hi again, everybody! For anybody that noticed I was gone, I’m back! Obviously school is not keeping me busy enough. Anyway, I’m bored and I feel like talking about myself, and none of you know anything that’s happened to me in the past two months, so. . .
First of all, about three weeks ago I officially became a college freshman here at Sam Houston State University. I’m majoring in English which I plan to teach on the high school level. I really love college life, being able to go home after each class and stay out late if I want (although I usually have no where to go, but I can!). I almost joined a sorority, but I was saved from that fate by the fact that they didn’t want me. Then I tried joining the Catholic Student Center, but that was just too weird. I finally decided on the Student Pagan Association, and now I’m happy.
The other really big thing in my life is that about four weeks ago I became engaged to Carl, my boyfriend of 11 months (a year on Oct. 3). I’m very very happy, but I can’t tell my mother for fear she’ll flip out. Not to worry, I have no intentions of leaving school to get married; we’re waiting the four until I graduate, and he’s even thinking about going back to school. Not only will this keep us from ending up as fry cooks at McDonald’s, but it’ll give us time to be sure that we are truly meant to be together. And really, what’s four years if we’re going to spend our lives together?
Oh, also, a little over a week ago I had my debut as Janet Weiss in the Rocky Horror Picture Show. After being on the sidelines for almost a year, finally playing was a huge thrill. Plus Carl got to undress me onstage. (He plays Riff.)
So, that’s pretty much all that’s been going on with me. If anybody has a comment/question or wants to share the latest details of their life, I’m dying to hear it. Meanwhile, it’s just nice to be back.

Congratulations on your engagement!

Welcome back, Cessandra! Does this mean our affair is over? ;). In all seriousness, I’m glad that you’re doing so well.
Suggestions :Don’t ask about loverock.
Don’t ask C3 about U.F.O.s.
Don’t ask me about religion.
Don’t ask about Satan’s lovelife.

By the way, after you left the board crashed and got screwed up seven ways from Sunday.
So don’t leave again!

Hmm, there’s something wrong with my profile. Let’s see if this works. . .

Dear Cessandra,

If I were your mother, I’d be so proud of you.

None of them worked for me, Cessandra.

Dear Lissa,

Thankyou. Why?

Try this. . .

Good to have you back and active again!

I should probably just leave well enough alone, but…

So let me get this straight, Cess. You had a flying fit over a prayer at your graduation and less than 4 months later you’re checking out the Campus Catholics and settled on joining the Pagans? I’ve never agreed with C3, but in this case it seems he was right that you were making a big fuss over something you were passionate about for about ten minutes. I’m glad you’re waiting to get married. I think you have some growing up to do first.

Actually, Lucky, I still feel as strongly as ever about the prayer at graduation thing. In fact, I recently talked to the president of our local ACLU chapter about it (I met him throught the Student Pagan Association). First of all, my religious convictions have little to nothing to do with my opinions on prayer in school – the only possible connection is that I had to fight so long just for the right to believe what I want. Secondly, my religious beliefs haven’t really changed at all since last May. I went to the Catholic Student Center for two reasons: 1) to make my parents/grandparents happy, and 2) to see if I could find any of the comfort that I once enjoyed from the Roman Catholic Church. I left because I realized that nothing had changed; the arrogant ethno-centricism that put me off in the first place was still rampant, maybe even more so here. As for the SPA, I went there as an agnostic, and they accept me as such. The range of beliefs in this group amazed me, from belief in every religion, to none at all, and I felt comfortable thinking for myself among them. Make any sense?

Congratulations on getting that homepage link to work, finally.

Because you have made some very good decisions, such as waiting until you’re out of school to get married, and you seem to be very intelligent.

Thank you, Lissa. I don’t really hear a lot of encouraging words like that at home, and I really appreciate it.

PS Thank you also to Blue Twylight, slythe, Jake and sunbear for your kind words in this thread.

Hi, Cess. I’m Babar. I only remember a few of your posts before you left. But you sound very sweet and bright and all that good stuff. Congratulations on all that is going well in your live, and I hope to argue with you soon.

Thank you Barbar. And if you really want an argument, I will do my best to disagree with you sometime in the future.
