CFL 2023 season

Good game though. I like games that are not a walkover, where every second of playing time counts.

Then you should watch the highlights from today’s RedBlacks - Bombers game! RedBlacks make two TDs with two 2 pt converts to tie and force overtime; and then… (I won’t spoil it)

I’ll catch it on the highlight reel on Sportscentre, no doubt.

Who says CFL is inferior to NFL? Nobody who is a CFL fan, that’s for sure!

It kind of snuck up on me, but I didn’t realize that Edmonton hasn’t won a home game in 5 years…

I was going to say, if you like last-minute wins… I was at that game, and probably half the audience left at half-time. Missed the best come-back I’ve ever seen!

To be fair, in 2020, the Elks also did not lose a game at home*. Even so, that’s a pretty sad record.

*- for those unaware, the CFL was forced to cancel its entire season in 2020, due to COVID-19 restrictions which would have forced them to play in empty stadiums, which would have led to large financial losses.

So, looks like Ottawa’s new quarterback Dustin Crum might be the real deal. Another big overtime win, against a pretty good Calgary team. I can’t wait to see the game against Hamilton this week!

The TSN talking heads are warning their money tonight. Kickoff at Ottawa was about an hour ago and then the rain started. It’s a bad sign when a sports network is repeatedly showing clips from the Weather Network, showing all the thunderstorms passing over the city.

I see from my Riders app that it’s now listed as postponed. Don’t know if that means they’ll start again later tonight, or try to play it tomorrow.

@Horatius , are you in the stands?

Yes, I was. I got there just as the rain was starting, and then they had the about an hour delay. I finally made it to my seat about 8:30. After the rain the weather was much nicer, the heat and humidity before that was killing me.

Too bad Ottawa lost, but once again, they were competitive right down to the wire.

In the stands at Mosaic, against the RedBlacks. Hoping for no Crum-backs, @Horatius !

7-1 Riders, 1st Q

Dang it. Rise ball carrier fumbled, RdBlack batted it out of bounds. ReBlack ball on Rider 13.

Crum sacked on Ott 28, RedBlack field goal. Tie game. 7 all.

Rider FG 10-7

Tried to tune in the CFL’s Ottawa–Saskatchewan game, but TSN in my location has pre-empted it to show some golf tourney.

TSN did the same a couple of weeks ago, pre-empting a CFL game in favour of women’s World Cup soccer.

Either the CFL needs better negotiators who can make TSN show its games, or TSN has to accept responsibility for fans losing interest in the CFL.

Ah! A “We now join this program already in progress” message popped up. So we do get football. Late, but we do get football.

Still, not happy with TSN. A foreign golf tourney and soccer between two non-Canadian teams should not take precedence over Canadian sports that Canadians want to see.

Riders 13-8 end of the 1st half.

Ridées 23-11

RedBlack D having bad night. 5 sacks by end of 3Q

Riders 23-21. Ick.

Crum showing how dangerous he is at end of the game
