As a side note, I was checking through Preferences (in your profile) and under Interface this is now a clickable option to set:

Interesting, thanks for that info. That option must have been added recently. From my perspective, a few days or so ago the font in the basic markdown editor just magically changed from monospace to the regular proportional font.
