Got a quick question. I have had MyYahoo as my homepage for years, although I rarely look at it and often just click straight from there to CNN or SDMB etc.
Whenever I try to change my homepage, it always reverts back to MyYahoo. I’ve tried everything I know in IE (clearing cookies, restarting, etc), but I don’t know enough to be messing with the registry.
Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone know how to fix it?
Go to internet options and paste the page address you want as homepage in there (you can have more than one)
If it is greyed out then one of your security programs has i locked. Spybot Search & Destroy and SuperAntiSpyware both offer this option as a protection against redirects but it is also possible, even probable that Yahoo have locked it. A lot of ISPs do this, most irritating.
If you aren’t particularly committed to IE, try Firefox or Opera.
I had tried that. As soon as I close and restart IE, my.yahoo.com is still the only homepage. I have to think that there is a registry key Yahoo is using to lock the homepage, but I don’t know enough to be able to find it.
I can only suggest that you install either or both of SuperAntiSpyware and Spybot Search & Destroy and use their tools to change to the homepage you prefer then lock it.
Can’t see why Spybot S&D should be stalling but there were some compatibility issues with Vista a couple of months ago. Have you done a clean install recently.
If you can’t achieve a change with it, try Superantispyware’s tools instead.
