Jungle, whatever you do, DO NOT get someone from Georgia started on the subject of peaches.
Morning, all. Well, as I feared, I got the call back from the doctor’s office early this morning. Not at 8:00 as I’d feared, but at 9:09, which wasn’t much of a difference considering that I ended up staying up for 45 minutes after I finished that congressional [del]drivel[/del] work so that I wouldn’t disturb Papa Tigs right before he had to get up for work, but was still too damn early. And then it wasn’t even M., the person I needed to speak to, it was a nurse, who when I told her I’d prefer to talk to M. tried to play 20 questions with me about why I was calling. Turned out M. was on vacation, so she said she’d have J. call me, who’s the new PA in the office and very nice, so I figured she wouldn’t call back till at least midday so I’d get a chance to get another hour’s sleep. No such luck; she called 35 minutes later. :smack: So I gave up and got up. Apparently I wasn’t supposed to get even a bare minimum of sleep. :smack:
Anyway, so I’m going to sit here and try to stay awake. Sounds like an exciting day, doesn’t it?
How old? Smoker? History of pneumonia? Concerned, but talking shop.
I just reread the entire series through the First Four Years and enjoyed it thoroughly! I went on line and pulled up photos of the Ingalls’ family- I find them facinating
It’s always been amazing to me that the little girl in the Big Woods, as an adult, rode on an airplane to see her daughter in Connecticut. What a time span her life covered!
((((Pie))))
I’m starting to think he’s actually Paula Deen.
And what’s with all the pecans? I’ve got to be sure to keep DH away from all of this or he’ll break out in a rash, or worse.
And talk about black leather so early in the morning? Not fair. There’s no bunk for me to go to here.
Time to gulp down another nap in a cup and mosey to the video room for a conference. Bah.
At first glance I read that as Paula Queen, and choked on my coffee.
I spent the last 2 days down with teh sick. Flu really, really sucks, and not in the good way. But I am definitely on the road to recovery. I had to cancel my date with L, but that was ok because she was sick too, just not with the flu.
Yay for recipe blog! Thanks, McUne.

That’s all for now, yays, boos hugs as needed.
Boos yays hugs as appropriate… I am here, just busy this week as well as tired (been crashing practically soon as Velociraptor does).
Today got off to a nasty start because it’s… snowing. We’re under a snow warning and it’s heavy wet snow so I was soaked to my calves walking a block from the bus stop by the time I made it in to work (2 hours late, 3 and a half hours after I got on my first bus). I started, and finished, a book while on the bus. I should’ve taken a second one but I didn’t realize the trip to work would be so bad!! The weather warning calls for 10-15 cm (4-6") but it looks like more than that has already fallen. Of course I could be wrong.
AND we’re calling for thunderstorms this afternoon. Currently I’d put my money on a thundersnow… we haven’t had one of those in awhile…
Back to work, got caught up now I have other stuff to do.
79, not for at least 30+ years, yes.
Right now they are doing xrays and bloodwork.
Good wishes zipping off to Pie…
Prayers for your grandfather, Pie.
I was so engrossed in the book I was reading that I got on the wrong subway and went all the way down to the south side before I realized what was wrong. :smack:
From now on, I hope y’all are plagued with nuttin’ but margarine. So There!
Also, you all will note that all my recipes do say, “or if you must, margarine.” When I bake stuff I do use real butter. So does anybody who wants sump’n to taste decent.
BBBobbio peaches? Ummmm… they’re a fruit. They’re nummy. I like peach cobbler and peach ice cream. Howzat for carryin’ on?
However, speakin’ of peaches I do have this side dish thingy that uses canned peach halves and sounds oogy but is good.
Take canned peach halves (I prefer the kind packed in water or light syrup) and pour chili sauce (the bottled kind) in the little pit indentation of each half and run 'em under the broiler for a couple of minutes. Like I said, sounds oogy but it’s a good side dish. Sump’n about the sweetness of the peach and the tang of the chili sauce that blends well together.
I’m home doin’ some work. Guess I should get back and get busy.
Plus in a bit Ima go mow da yahd cause it’s really nice out. Like Puggy said it’s gonna really get warm tomorrow and Sattidy and cool down Sunday, then heat up again. It’s done that for a couple weeks now and like Puggy said, also, I’m ready for the heat up to start. May 1st is supposed to be poooooool tiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiime!!!
ETA: Pie your grandpa is in my thoughts and prayers.
swooooooooons
Sorry, I’m slightly hot and bothered by the image of a junglista boy cooking shirtless. *
Soooooo… in other news, as I was informed earlier today by one of my colleagues, it’s all my fault. I’m not sure what “all” includes or why I’m at fault for it, but I’d like to apologize in advance if that includes crappy stuff in any of the Mumpers’ lives. (See, today seems to have involved me dropping a whole lotta bad news on people without realising it, which makes me most unhappy… and obviously doesn’t make them all that happy either)
I’m going to sneak home early so I can snuggle with my kitties and feel sorry for myself.
YAY for the cabin snowbunny! It sounds absolutely darling and I’m wallowing in jealousy.
And more YAYs for Dotty’s last day.
Pie, good thoughts going to you and grandpa.
…and swampy, I’m not sure whether to gag or drool over the concept of a Saltine salad. I guess it proves that there’s nothing in this world that a southerner won’t slather in mayo and call salad.
- …what? those are, like, three of my favourite things (those being junglists, men who cook, and shirtless men). Add a kitten and some chocolate to the equation, and I’d be hopelessly lost.
Home and productive. I’ve mowed the little bit of grass and weeds that was getting tall, except for the ditch out front - I wasn’t in a ditch mood. In a few minutes, I’ll feed the critters, then I’m going to run to the grocery store. We were going to get FCD’s tux ordered tonight, but he’s got to work late again - at least 2 hours, he said. So no tuxin’…
Good day at work, but busy. I had to stand in for my boss at the Branch Head meeting, since he’s supervising the training exercise. The meeting convinced me I definitely don’t want to be a boss-type. Two freekin’ hours long!!! GAH!! And much of it was a bitch session about the next-higher level of bosses. I was so glad to get out of there.
Anyway, time to feed the menagerie and get some foodstuffs before my sweetie gets home. As Ahnold says: I’ll be back!
MWAH!
::Sticks head in thread::
::Realizes he’s made a wrong turn somewhere and entered the Food Channel instead of the MMP::
::Takes head out of thread::
… waitaminute! This is the MMP!!
I’ve got nothing much to contribute to the recipes, except to say – Nice site, McUne!
I do make a mean scrambled egg!
{{{Pie}}} – hope your GFather pulls through!
{{{Beebs}}} – whatever it is that’s ailing you.
On the other hand – Yay! **Snowbunny **for the cabin
And Yay! **Dotty **on finishing this job. BTW – I always knew you were cheap, but – free!?!?
**Haze **-- is the South End somewhere you go semi-often? I’ve done similar things driving. I’ll be letting the car pretty much drive itself, and, suddenly, I realize I’m headed someplace I go often rather than where I need to be going… :smack:
Oh, and judging by your recent pictures, no, you don’t really need a diet! Thin people like you saying they need to lose weight – and then doing it with the greatest of ease! – makes me become homicidal…!
**Rosie **-- I believe you’re right on both counts in terms of gmilut hasadim. Give anonymously. If at all possible, give so that you don’t know who the recipient is.
**Rigs **-- you keep naggin Rosie for pics – what about your new look, huh!?
Whew… I think I’m semi caught up now…
I think you missed mine!
Holy cow - I hear an ice cream truck!!! It’s playing Music Box Dancer, which isn’t the worst song it could have chosen. I can hear it because the house is open - we’re low 70s and sunny and it’s loverly out there.
Back from grocery-ing. We’re having steak and baked N.O.T. and some sort of vegetable matter that I’ll pick out later. **FCD ** is on his way home and should be here in an hour. So I have a little time to chill.
And oddly enough, as I walked down the frozen food aisle, these two cartons of ice cream leapt from the freezer - leapt, I say!! - and fell into my cart. Have you ever???
That’s all I’ve got. The bakers are baking, the steak is marinating, Bernie is panting, and the other 2 critters are quiet. Life is good.
Here are the links for two of yours, or did I miss another one, which is quite possible with all the yummy recipes that have been posted!
Crockpot Chicken or Pork
Swampy, speaking of recipes, if you want me to include your peaches and chili sauce one on the site, I need a name. ![]()
Yay! Four down, just one more to go til Firday!
Prayers for GrandpaPie. Yay for it being Dotty’s last day working for teh evil boss!
All these recipes have made my mouth water!!
Now we’re trying to decide what to fix for dinner tonight. That legolamb from Trader Joe’s appears to be calling … LOL!
More later tonight.
I only hope that it was Turkey Hill ice cream that leapt into your cart, FCM. It’s very good at doing that – it regularly leaps into the cart when Papa Tigs is shopping, too. And strangely, it does it in the flavors I love the bestest and mostest. Yumm, Turkey Hill. I shall devour you this evening!
This has been a completely useless day. Other than running a couple of short errands, I’ve just sat here and enjoyed the wonderful fresh air. Oh, and listened to snowbunny tizzy and babble a lot about her new little cabin, and what she needs to furnish it. I’m also getting annoyed with her because she promised me photos HOURS ago, but have I seen any yet? Ha! It is to laugh. So she’d better do something about that tout suite or she’s going to find herself on The List!
Is it bedtime yet?
ETA: Oops, I forgot to add prayers for Grandpa Pie.
