I have seen several references to chatting on SD. Is there a seperate chat line available and if so, where do you enter?

If you have IRC software, the channel is #straightdope. It’s an unofficial room and nothing to do with the Chicago Reader.
In addition: it is on Undernet servers only, if I’m correct.

It’s the same one. The TM page provides an applet to access it with, as opposed to having separate IRC software.

OpalCat has also opened #3FMB but this channel doesn’t get much use. It’s empty again right now. There aren’t as many of us 3fers and I guess people use #straightdope. But you could check it out.
