I would like for this to be true, if Chris Nolan can pull it off. I like the possibilities of a Catwoman whose sexuality and femininity are waning, and who might be getting a little desperate, a little more insane.
It’s almost certainly not true. There isn’t a Batman 3 even mooted by anybody relevant yet, not Warner Brothers, not DC, not Chris Nolan (who hasn’t been signed on), there’s no script, there’s not even a story, let alone any likelihood of someone being “in talks” for a role.
It is, in all likelihood, complete bollocks.
I don’t see “complete bollocks” in the Telegraph very often though, although I am skeptical as I’ve heard nothing else from anywhere.
Even I think it’s most likely “complete bollocks” - but I think it would be interesting to say the least.
I don’t believe it for a second. I actually think it would be an interesting take on the character, but the plasticine one would NEVER do it. Cher is so narcissistically, neurotically youth-obsessed that she wouldn’t even consider playing a character who’s “in her twilight years.” Just look at the photo - 62 y.o. and she’s “showing off” her midriff?
She hasn’t given a good movie performance in 20 years. It would be a total disaster. I can’t imagine it’s even remotely true.
If Cher might be considered, why not just go with Eartha Kitt again?

You know, there was a lot of skepticism over how well Heath Ledger would work as the Joker, and we all know how that turned out, so I don’t think the Cher suggestion is really that absurd.
It’s going to take a lot more than one article for me to even remotely believe it, of course.
The idea is interesting, but I’m not really sure how it would work in the Nolanverse. If the character is supposed to be in her twighlight years, wouldn’t that mean that she had been active for a lot longer than either Batman or the Joker?
Did you see that POS? She was not good–and opposite the 3 Dames (Smith, Dench, Plowright), that stood out even more.
But it was skepticism based on the curiosity of the casting, not because there was any doubt about Ledger’s genuine acting ability.
So, how far would you have to turn back time to make Cher = Catwoman a good idea?

Yep, and she was nominated for another. Which doesn’t alter the fact that she can’t act her way out of a wet paper bag. Seriously, she has no range, no style, flat dead eyes… Man, I hate Cher. I’ll never forgive her for that cover version of “Hey Joe”.

She could have been a run-of-the-mill cat burglar and only recently (perhaps inspired by Batman a la Year One IIRC) decided to go all super-villain and go out with a bang, as it were.
All I’m saying is that many highly respected critics disagree with your assertion.
Cher as Catwoman? Could work if they emphasize her age in a liason with Robin in which she steals Robin away form a much younger woman. (What can I say, I find older women hot.)
But given this is Cher we’re talking about, she’s not exactly entirely old, is she? I mean, parts of her are old, but other parts of her still have that new-in-the-showroom smell, you know what I mean?
However, she’s had so much plastic surgery, her skin has the consistency of Michelle Pfieffer’s catsuit, so she’s got that going for her.
