Chess: Zombywoof v Glee spectator comments

This is a companion thread to the actual chess training game between Zombywoof (White) and Glee.
Analysis, questions and comments on the game are all welcome!

And here is the actual game:

Are these games still going? Neither Zombywoof nor Chessic Sense have made a move in more than 3 weeks. I know they are still active on the boards. What’s up, guys?

Sadly this does often happen with such threads.
I assume that real life interferes…

I just moved yesterday. I kept checking and seeing that the last post was glee analyzing my other game, and I missed his move two posts prior to that.

Real life about summarizes it! - I’ll check back into the game tomorrow evening.

I am curious - do either of you find it difficult to play with such a long time lag? and do you therefore ‘rerun’ the game one move or set of moves at a time to refresh your memory of how this position came about?

As a strong player, the answer to this is the same as to how we give simultaneous displays.
Show me any game position and I will use my experience and database of chess patterns to come up with as reasonable move in a few seconds. (Unless it’s a complicated tactical position when I will need much longer.)
In a simultaneous, I simply treat each position afresh and play a good (not necessarily the best) move at each board.

Similarly I can ‘pick-up’ these Internet games very quickly (and I will probably remember the opening as well soon afterwards.)

I remember it like I remember a story. I may not remember every detail, but I know what the plot is. In my game against glee, the story so far has been to play the Nimzo-Indian, Saemisch variation, and trade the dark-square bishop for a knight. Since then, it’s been about regrouping on the kingside. Recently, I accepted his sacrifice.

So, you see, it’s only four chapters long. Not that hard to remember.
