I think Chewbacca will mostly be seen in the background, for no more than a minute or so.
People are freaking out a little to much.

Seriously, it only makes sense to erase the memories they experience, not the ones that are hard-coded in. Otherwise you’d have to reteach C3P0 millions of languages every time.
And now that I think about it, Jabba the Hutt should have seen C3P0 at the podrace. This breaks continuity, since the actor portraying Jabba clearly did not show any recognition upon seeing the droid in Return of the Jedi. Because, you know, if two beings run across each other for one day, they’ll still remember every intimate detail about each other 60 years down the line.
Does anyone else get a Star Trek TNG vibe (Only the SW script and acting is worse) from the prequels? Maybe it’s the touchscreen computers.
Well, 3PO units are common place, obviously. I mean, they’re EVERYWHERE in the movies-you see one in the ANH, TESB, and in TPM. Same with R2 units. Plus, they’ve had their memories erased, so they wouldn’t remember.
If you’re going to criticize something like that in SW, it’s best if you do your homework first.
Hey, do you have something better than can function as a nightlight/mugger protection/all purpose firestarter/knife?
OK… But what’s he troubled about? I’m not seeing this, here.
I can see somebody mem-wiping Threepio just to shut him up, for a while, at least. I imagine that this will happen several times over the course of Ep III, for comic relief. “But Master Anakin, didn’t you say that you would CLICK” “But Master Kenobi, what about CLICK” “But Mistress Amidala, didn’t you know that CLICK”. Artoo isn’t annoying, so he doesn’t get wiped. And of course Artoo recognized everything that was going on… Wasn’t it obvious when he said “BLEEPclickwhirrrr[sub]beep[/sub]boop!”? I mean, just the tone of his voice, there, should have made it clear that he’d been there before.
The “memory wipe” theory sounds plausable to me. They’d erase all of C3POs experiences while keeping his basic protocol skills. “Revert To Saved”. OWK is probably lying to Luke about not remembering the droids. He’s lying to him about his father, right?
Maybe Chewie doesn’t remember OWK because he just doesn’t give a crap. A job’s a job to him. Is there really ever any indication of his intelligence level or his awareness of the big picture? He always seems to just go with the flow and does his work with little complaint. He’s the model employee!
Owen not recognizing C3PO in ep4 is a little harder to get around. Perhaps he’s owned so many droids over the years that he doesn’t remember them all and/or he doesn’t give a crap either. I wouldn’t remember every household appliance I’ve ever owned. I think the droids are seen as more human by the audience then they are by the other characters in the movie.
BZZT! TBS is showing Star Wars: The New Hope Crayon Edition, and Obi Wan doesn’t know Chewie’s name. What happens is Obi Wan’s talking to a guy in what looks like a white version of the spacesuits used in 2001, this guy shakes his head and walks off, directly behind him is Chewie. Obi Wan steps up to Chewie and begins talking to him, the camera then cuts to Luke, who is being accosted by one of the patrons in the bar. After some discussion, a fight breaks out, Obi Wan whips out his lightsaber, slices and dices, and then says he’s been talking to Chewbacca. Which means that Obi Wan could have introduced himself to Chewie and learned Chewie’s name while Luke was being accosted.
Of course, since this isn’t the original, pristine version of the film, this may not be strictly canon.
Of course, the really important question is: Will the Trooper Clerks be in the movie?
 No way!
Next you’ll be telling that that Chancellor fellow becomes the Emperor.
What kind of spoiler is that? You don’t know that. I’ll bet Sidious (and not Chancellor Palpatine) becomes the Emperor.
Next you’ll be telling me that Sidious and Palpatine are the same person.
Right, right. Just because they’re played by the same person. Next you’ll be telling me that Jango and Boba Fett are the same.
Been saying that for years myself. My theory is Palpatine or Sidious is a clone of the other set up so he could be in two places at once, training in the force and taking over the government at the same time.
I don’t know, but I’ve heard a CRAZY rumor, that like, Darth Vader is Luke’s father.
And then someone else told me that Luke and Leia are TWINS-but that’s just silly.
Okay, it’s one thing to say something we already know. It’s another to say something we’re all just assuming, like that Darth Maul is dead, or that Amidala is Luke’s mother.
