So, there has been some loose talking about a Doper meet-up following my arrival at Detroit. I am planning to spend a weekend in Chicago sometime in December. Maybe a great opportunity for us to meet?
What are your thoughts on this?
When in December? Chicago Dopefests are always a good idea.
Yes! Blue Kangaroo is moving sometime next week, so we should wait until after that, I think.
With the holidays happening, scheduling might be tricky, though. I know I’m *not *available the 21-25 or the 29, due to previous commitments. What works for you? Let’s start throwing out some numbers and ideas and see who’s up for it.
Ooh, this could be tricky. I’m definitely not available on the weekend of the 15th, and I’m iffy about the weekend right before Christmas. Maybe the 28th? (It’s a Friday.)
I have looked it up and I think that December **15th **and **16th **will have to be my Chicago days.
FTR, I think there should be a huge Chicago Dopefest in March 2009- the tenth birthday of this SDMB’s incarnation.
Obviously it would be hard to arrange a fest by the true sense of the word, but maybe some of you’d be interested to just meet up somewhere that weekend for a cup of coffee or so? I am entirely new to Chicago and very new to the US and would love to meet somebody while I still have the opportunity.
Dang, I would love to come out for a dopefest, but I just can’t commit to anything in December. If it gets postponed until January, I’m on board!
Is it crass to remind people that Chicago in winter is not the best time for planning get-togethers? Maybe the fact that we’re having our first winter storm warning of the season right now is turning me off to the idea of a 3 hour drive.
