Skald had never been this cruel: you have a choice - win the 2016 WS or un-elect Donald Trump. If you choose the WS, you get Trump. If you choose “no” on the Series, you get your preferred candidate (since this is a dream, might as well make it pleasant.)
What do you choose? WS with Trump in charge the next 4 years, or give up the game to save the country from 4 years of idiocy?
If you’re a Cubs fan, the thing is, if they lose Game 7 last year, they remain the best team in the National League, and are well positioned to put excellent teams on the field for several years to come. So if you give up the 2016 World Series you have at least a decent shot at the same prize in 2017, 2018, etc.
Grew up close enough to Chicago to watch the Cubs on WGN sans cable. Getting rid of Trump puts Pence in charge, need to get him out as well and throw in Bannon while you’re at it.
AIUI, the OP means that Pence, Bannon, etc. would never get into power in the first place, since they were attached to Trump and if he didn’t win last November, they don’t win. It’s not like an after-the-fact impeachment scenario, where Trump goes but Pence stays.
As a Cardinals fan in Illinois, I say we give up the Cubs championship, no questions asked. Trump can go, too, but no need for one to be tied to the other.
I imagine this would be a bigger Sophie’s Choice style question for someone like Patton Oswalt if he had to choose between preventing his wife’s accidental death or preventing Trump from getting into office.
