Chicken McNugget Ingredients Revealed

Man, that was utterly disgusting. :stuck_out_tongue:

THAT IS NOT HOW CHICKEN MCNUGGETS ARE MADE

That is how low-end nuggets like you would find in prisons and really really cheap at the grocery store are made.

Regarding the Jamie Oliver video… what exactly would be so terrible about chicken nuggets if they actually were, indeed, made that way? It’s still chicken. It’s not the best parts of the chicken, but I don’t think anybody was expecting whatever the chicken equivalent of prime rib in their nuggets. Chicken skin, whatever nutrients come from grinding up the bones, and remnants of meat are still chicken, albeit very unhealthy bits of chicken.

So what would actually be the big deal?

(Unable to watch the vids)

Was Oliver claiming this was how genuine McD’s nuggets were made, or how the nuggets that served as part of school lunches get made?

My question as well. I’ve had the misfortune to eat school nuggets in the last couple of years, and they’re revolting, far worse than my memory of McNuggets.

I KNEW IT!

{Bolding mine}That’s a pretty good freudian slip.

Neither. At the beginning of the video, when he’s talking to the viewer, he says “Thankfully, in this country, chicken nuggets aren’t made this way.” But when he’s working with the kids, he makes no such clarification. The kids are led to believe chicken nuggets in general are normally made the way he describes, but that’s not the big issue. We obviously don’t know everything that was said to the kids on set. The problem is when adults see the video, ignore the clarification at the beginning of the video, and uncritically claim it shows how McNuggets are made, as seen earlier in this thread.

As to whether a typical elementary school serves chicken nuggets made with MSC, it could be hard to tell without inquiring about the supplier for each school district. Tyson, for instance, doesn’t use any MSC in their commercial chicken patty and nugget products, (take a look through http://www.tysonfoodservice.com/Products.aspx). But, a really strapped school district might purchase theoretically less expensive MSC-based nuggets, assuming they’re commercially available. I’m having a hard time finding an example of such a product since virtually all results for MSC and nuggets bring up articles about that picture of some kind of MSM being extruded into a cardboard box.

McNuggets are produced by Keystone Foods LLC and shipped to all restaurant locations in North America and beyond. The ingredients do not change as the trucks cross the border.

I tell my kids that nuggets are made of Lips and buttholes. They haven’t eaten them in years.

Canadians are in on it too? SCHWEEEEET!

They’re made with parts. Pieces parts.

She deserves all the scorn she receives. She did have a valid complaint against that McDonalds location, but she repeatedly called 911 to get satisfaction from a McNugget ‘emergency’, even after told an officer was enroute and to stop calling emergency services.

Contaminated? That’s a pretty strong word to use, even if one is just talking about those allergic to soy products. While technically, to someone suffering from soy allergies, the definition fits, to contaminate caries negative connotations. If one reads quickly and does not notice that the link refers to soy allergies, one could walk away with the wrong impression of the presence of soy products in food.

When will they figure out chickens don’t have lips.

I think we can all agree that hot dogs are made from lips and assholes and chicken nuggets are pigeons and silly putty.

Any number of processed meats are grosser than nuggets. Like potted meat product, which I love but am repulsed by at the same time.

From this site: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Potted_meat_food_product

*Armour Star: Mechanically separated chicken, beef tripe, partially defatted cooked beef fatty tissue, beef hearts, water, partially defatted cooked pork fatty tissue, salt, and less than 2 percent: mustard, natural flavorings, dried garlic, dextrose, sodium erythorbate, and sodium nitrite. *

Can you ever get enough “partially defatted cooked pork fatty tissue”?

Pigeon McNuggets? I’d buy those! (Do they exist, or is the whole story a bunch of squab-bull?)

Hmmm. Do you have to bob your head when you eat Pigeon McNuggets? And can you talk normally, or do you have to speak pidgin?

Mmmm. I especially love the partially defatted cooked pork fatty tissue-on-a-stick from the fair.

Hey, just 'cause my comment stuck in your craw…

They used to be a mix of white meat nuggets and dark meat nuggets, then they “new & improved” them and took out the dark meat ones. Which sucks, because they were delicious.

I hate when they “new & improve” things.

Chicken McNuggets used to be the food of the gods when I was a kid, but now they taste different. I don’t know if it’s me, or if they changed. Still, it tastes like the oil is different.

Also, I’ve never been grossed out about where my food came from, either. If I were, I’d be a vegetarian. I mean, killing and preparing any meat for sale is really gross.
