ChiDope 2004

I believe you, Joey.
I had a kick-ass time last year, and I’d love to make it again. Too soon to promise, but it’s definitely on my want-to-do list.

Looking forward to seeing “Tex” Gundy et al again.

Huh. I guess I’ll go. I think I’ll go to the Shedd this year.

Snapchest? We’ve really got to work on your vocabulary

I am currently deliberating on this matter.

Eighties, check (even though I was 0-6 at the time).
Aquarium or shopping (or other miscellaneous downtown stuff), check.
Bar, unfortunately not due to not being alive for long enough. I can probably be on call to ferry drunk or otherwise incapacitated individuals back to the hotel, though.
Mini Golf, dude, I’m SO THERE.

A suggestion for cheap activities: Last year, I sort of just explored downtown by myself. You know, Marshall Fields’s, the Watertower, John Hancock building, the Tribune building… If the weather is nice (or even nice-ish), this is a good cheap or free way to spend several hours (especially if you’ve never really experienced Chicago before. I hadn’t.). From the hotel, the El station is only about a five minute walk or so, and that’ll take you right downtown, so there you go. I don’t know exactly where Jane’s planning to go on her shopping trip, but if there are any folks who would perhaps rather focus a little more on the sightseeing, I’ll probably be doing that again.

I’m a tenative yes. The hotel was awesome, the city was awesome, the people…well, the people I could take or leave…naah, you guys were all awesome too. Have I shown anyone the pic of typo and Joey kissing yet?

Greetings.

I’m in. 80’s theme potluck… Will it be a Dead Man’s Party?

It will now.

More free activities…

The Chicago Cultural Center has all sorts of free exhibits and concerts. Link:

If you want to take the El all the way to the end of the Purple Line (Linden Ave. in Wilmette), you will be 2 blocks from IMO one of the Wonders of the Modern World, the Ba’hai Temple. The gardens are also lovely as well, and I especially recommend going at sunset if you can swing it (you’ll be right on the lakefront, and the Temple has floor-to-ceiling windows). Link:

And just across Sheridan Road is the lake by Wilmette Harbor, and then Gillson Park. Plus there are some really gorgeous huge old mansions inhabited by rich people, if you’re into that sort of thing.

See, it’s that “Can Do” attitude that makes you the person I aspire to be.

Garf, if you decide to go, give Matt at Black Rock a call and explain the situation. He’s a good guy and might be willing to work something out with you.

Being like me would be a giant step down for you, Jane.

Maybe if you wear the shiney shirt, they will be so dazzled that they let you in just on the strength of your wardrobe.

I’m debating… I’m finding some really good prices for flying out from L.A. for JustPlainBryan and myself. It’s something to discuss, that’s for sure. It’s high time I get my ass to a Chidope.

Hey boys and girls, make room for a New Yorker on your list.

What’s the deal with getting tix for the Cubs? I’d really love to see Wrigley.

Jeeze…try to be trendy one night and you’re marked for life… :stuck_out_tongue:

You are just the sweetest. I may have even blushed.

That weekend’s pretty much sold out (Cubs v. Cards games always sell out in a jiffy). My first call, if I were you, would be to (I’m choking as I type this) Wrigley Field Premium Ticket Services, (773) 477-2425. I don’t know if you’re aware of the scandal behind WFPTS’ existence – I’ll tell you if you want – but they’re your best bet for good seats.

I’ll be at Saturday’s game, so let me know if that’s the one you’re going to so we can meet up at the kosher dog wagon.

Ooh! Tell me! Tell me!

I love a good ticket broker story. They’re a little like slasher films without the sex or violence.

This is Chicago, guy. All of our stories involve sex and violence.

Yay! psycat and I will be there!
