I’m for Caffe Baci. Good idea.
Are we talking the one at 77 W. Wacker, or 225 W. Wacker? I vote for 77 W. Wacker, since it’s closer to the El Stop.
I didn’t even realize there were 2 on Wacker; I was thinking of 225 W., but I’m probably going to have to cab it either place. So it’s majority rules.
The Caffe Baci on Madison, near LaSalle is like, a block away from me…
Ah, whatever. I don’t care.
Either one’s fine by me.
Just to throw more confusion in, is the one at 231 S. LaSalle (just south of Adams) more centrally located for the downtown people? It’s near a different El stop, so I don’t much care. Kyla, I’m confused - is that the one you’re talking about, cause Metromix doesn’t list one on Madison. Eva Luna, you’re south loop, right? Maybe the LaSalle one is better?
The LaSalle one is by far the closest for me (and for **Dinsdale **as well, if he’s coming this time), but I was trying to take the others into consideration too. I’ll do whatever makes everyone else happy. (Well, not *anything, * but you know what I mean.)
Actually, it’s at 2 N. LaSalle, which isn’t listed on the Metromix site, but the entrance is on Madison. I don’t get it either.
Guys, it’s in the Bank of America building; it’s sort of a mall on the first floor, and there are several entrances, but the restaurant is on the north side of the building (you have to enter from inside the building) about halfway between the Clark St. side and the Dearborn side. The building is between Jackson on the south and Madison on the north. Thus the confusion.
I hope that makes sense. My brain seems to have shut down for the day.
Eva Luna, you and I are not talking about the same place, just so we’re clear. Metromix shows that there are thee locations of Caffe Baci, but there are actually four, two on Wacker and two on LaSalle.
[bump]
Yeah, now I remember the fourth location, the one you’re talking about. Now that I’ve had a nice nap, anyway.
Whatever makes everyone else happy is fine by me.
Since no one’s expressed a major preference, how about we get together at the Caffe Baci that Kyla mentioned (LaSalle and Madison - 2 N. LaSalle) at 1 pm on Friday 9/8? Again, I don’t much care since I have to take the El regardless, but we need to pick one.
D’oh - still looking at last months calendar. Friday is 9/5.
Works for me!
Fine by me!
Friday good!
Thundercats HO!
I mean, of course, lunch Friday, what a smashing idea. I will of course be in attendance.
Hey! It’s the Berghoff Octoberfest! Nothing says fun like standing around in the federal plaza, eating overpriced brats, and listening to over-amplified oompah music!
Please note the sarcasm!
I’m golfing tomorrow, so Friday I be lunching!
Hey! Don’t you be dissin’ Oktoberfest!
(My very hot guitar teacher’s band is playing there tonight. Alas, duty calls, so I will miss them. You can ogle him, if you so desire, at www.underwaterpeople.com, although the photos really don’t do him justice. He’s much better up close and personal, ummm, I mean in person.)
And they don’t do oompah music, dammit! (Although they do look awfully Aryan. They have a sense of humor about it, though; they do one number called the “Redneck Medley.” It involves bts of “Sweet Home Alabama” and that sort of thing, but the kicker is a cover of “The Devil Went Down to Georgia,” with accordion instead of fiddle. It’s a foot-stompin’ good time!
(And if anyone rats me out to Jacob, I swear, you will pay!)
