I honestly have absolutely no memory of whose house it was; I have no head for names, especially if I don’t have a context to place them in and I’m meeting a whole bunch of new people at once. I vaguely remember a couple of cats, a door that opened onto the alley, annd multitudinous casseroles.
And yep, my ex was a member, although not a prolific one. Unless he changed his username, he hasn’t posted in quite a while.

Yeah, it was nice to put some faces to the names…but after work might be less hectic and provide better opportunities for actual conversation, especially if people are schlepping from all over Creation to get there.

I’m up for an after work thing, too. Shall we keep the second Thursday of the month the standard lunch, though? Might give dopers who live in the burbs but work downtown a chance to spend time with such fine people as us.
If we want to stick with a lunch (which in no way precludes excessive drinkin’ and eatin’ after work sometime), the next lunch will be Thursday, October 10th.

Sorry to (somewhat) hijack this thread. On September 22nd I will be in Morris, Illinois to pass out KI pills to the general public. A pretty bit group from our office will be there - and most of them are W I L D. It is a Sunday and after that, we will all be going to the boats in Joliet to gamble a bit.
I know it is a Sunday night which makes it difficult - but anyone want to meet up with some crazy folks and gamble a bit?
Warning: I have a few crazy friends that will flash you and, if you blink, smoke your sausage and eat your cigarettes.

Well, I don’t get that much time off for lunch, but I’m certainly supportive of the after-work cocktail! And maybe, depending on where the next lunch is, I can meet you all then.

porc, it’s not a long thread, so it makes sense to me to keep using this thread.
And lunch? Zanshin’s earlier suggestion of Stocks & Blondes was good, I thought. There’s also Giordano’s on Washington, or if anyone feels like sojourning north for surly service, the touristy Ed Debevic’s. Or Lalo’s for Mexican, also way north.
Or, any Potbelly’s. Yum.

Just a reminder that Angie and I (along with one of my sisters) will be in the MSI a week from Tuesday. Any Dopers planning on joining us for lunch should look for a tall guy in a white baseball cape emblazoned with the letters “CR”.
What’s the CR for? Well, it could be “Chicago Reader” or “Cecil Rules” but it’s really “Community Residences” which is a non-profit organization that provides housing for people who have some mental disibility. I used to be one of their residents.
