porcupine, I thought you were working downtown. Did I msremember?
I am an independent contractor, paid hourly, so I am very flexible with times and, to some extent, places.
Good: flexibility
Bad: An hour at lunch is an hour I don’t get paid.

Abe Babe, I’m not technically downtown, but very very close - Paulina and the Eisenhower - so I can just hop on the Blue Line. But it’s damn cold and windy on the platform, particularly today.
Now that the weather is (presumably) nice and ChiDope is fresh in our memories, shall we try this one more time? How about Thursday May 29th for lunch?
I’ve got no golf planned for that day, and am always eager for an excuse to be absent from the office for prolonged periods.
I’d be up for it for sure.
Sure thing! I’d prefer it if the location was northy/westy, since I’m at Division and Halsted these days. Maybe, like, Lou Malnati’s on Wells?
Of course, if it’s easty/southy, I’ll be there anyway, just sweatier and a little later.
I either need to cab it or take the Blue Line in, since I’m at Paulina and 290. As if anyone cares.
I care, porcupine!
When we going to be able to do a NW burbs lunch ya think?
And dinsdale, it will have to be a date when YOU can join us too!
I’d love to go but since I am in the Merchandise Mart and I only get a half hour for lunch I won’t be able to attend:(
Now, a happy hour thing in Greektown after work - I’m there!
Missy2U, I do the occasional work-from-home days - I’ll try and plan one for next month. Are there particular days of the week that work for you? Fridays, maybe?
I’m Division and State, but could pretty easily make it downtown or into porcupine’s nape of the neck -er- neck of the woods. Perhaps Gundy and I could share a cab.
I’m south-eastish, by the Sears Tower, so if it’s not around here, after work happy-hourish might be better. By the time I got to River North, even in a cab, I’d have to turn around and go back.
Lou Malnati’s looks like it could be a good location.
It’s a doable walk for Eva and me right up Wells from down by the Sears Tower (I’m on the NW corner of Adams/Wells.)
Just a coupla blocks west for Abe Babe.
Gundy suggested it (tho I wouldn’t mind if she showed up glowing, if not sweating.)
What would it be for you, porc - the Blue line Division stop?
And maybe MikeG could even stop by briefly as it is just about across the street for him.
Why don’t we consider it a go, seeing as most of us are going to cancel as the date approaches anyway!
You’re talking about 439 N. Wells, right?
That’s what I saw online, tho I’ve never been there.
Sorry I missed your earlier post about travel time.
Us government employees sometimes forget that for you civilians the term lunch hour actually relates to some discrete measurement of time.
Okay, okay. How about Stocks & Blondes on Wells and Washington? Zanshin mentioned it earlier, I believe, and if I share a cab with the lovely and talented Abe Babe instead of riding my bike I could make it.
Works for me. I am still pretty new to the El. Anybody know the closest Blue Line stop? Once I’m above ground I can find my way there no prob.
I think it’s Washington, then walk a few blocks west until you hit Wells, porcupine. Check the trip planner on www.yourcta.com anyway.
Stocks and Blondes works for me.
What’s the one under the Thompson Center? I can never remember, but that’s the one you want.
