We’re out of the Gulf!
We’ve passed the Straits of Hormuz, en route to the Straits of Bab el Mandeb!!
28 and a wake up!!
Yup, we completed our final taskings up in the Persian Gulf a couple of days ago. We pulled out of the UAE and beelined it for open (and much cooler) water. One day on the pier the temperature hit 131 degrees!!
So for the first time in more than five months, I will be closer to home tonight than I was this morning!
We’ll steam past the USS George Washington Saturday evening like… well… two ships passing in the night. The GW is our relief in this area of the world.
Though we won’t actually relax until we tie up in Norfolk August 18th, we can breath a bit easier and begin congratulating ourselves on a tough job well done.
I’m so proud of all my kids (actually young men and women) and their performances in serving their country.
Somebody better pass me a fuckin’ beer! It’s pret-near party time!!
Cheif, we are not just proud of you, we are proud of all of the men and women on your bigassboat. Thanks for a job well done, and travel home safely.

Uhhhhm, what happens to something that got sent to your APO address now? How long will it take it to find you out in the open waters? Or will it wait until you’re in Norfolk to get delivered to you? If so, how long until you get there?
Sorry Chief, but depending on your answers to the above questions, this may not be good news to me.
Thanks for all you do in defense of our proud country, and of freedom. You are certainly one of the best posters on this board and I heartily congratulate you on 3000 magnificent posts. We are a better MB and community because of you. God speed my friend, we can’t wait to see you back on the mainland.
