I was wondering how many children zombies have appeared on “The Walking Dead”. I can only think of Carol’s daughter right now, and I’m blanking on her name.
They seem to be few and far between, if not completely nonexistent…
In the recent episode where Alexandria got overrun by zombies, Sam finally freaked out because he spotted a child zombie of around his age. Sam was the whiny kid that Carol took an inexplicable liking to.
They’re rare, but I’ve seen a few. I imagine that children, in the zombie apocalypse, would have mostly been consumed first, leading to a lack of child walkers.

Rick ran into one near the beginning of the series, a blonde girl if i am not mistaken. It is more likely for children to be fully consumed than to have enough remains left to zombify.
Somehow, I completely missed the one that freaked Sam out! I’ll have to go back and re-watch that scene!
There are no “zombies” in The Walking Dead. We don’t use the z-word.

To be fair they would still reanimate; just as a immobile head and mostly de-fleshed torso.
Of course the real, non in-universe, reason why we seldom see child walkers is because child labor laws make it a lot harder and more expensive to use them as zombie extras.

Using child actors carries significant restrictions on their working hours, which cramps a show’s plans for using them extensively.
I can’t remember to be quite honest, i just remember the little girl zombie being a big shock in an early episode.
Not if there is nothing left, like with Lori who was consumed 100%. She wouldn’t have zombified either way, but it shows that zombies will fully consume someone if they don’t reanimate fast enough.
The first episode of Z Nation featured a zombaby.

Oh, I definitely remember that fun scene!
Especially when the actor would have to spend a significant amount of time in the makeup/hair department. This problem can be gotten around by using a “photo double” (actor who looks similar, shot from a distance or over the shoulder) for part of the day, but that’s not practical for background actors (extras).
FWIW, the comic had some VERY gruesome scenes involving children that seriously killed my interest. The show wisely avoided reproducing these scenes.
Also, IIRC 2004’s “Dawn of the Dead” had a zombaby scene.
