Choose Your Bandwagon

Not all of us have the luxury of having a GOOD football team to cheer for. C’mon Redskins, Lions, Cowboy, Titans and Chiefs fans, you know who you are. (I fall into the Chiefs category) So whose bandwagon are you jumping on since yours is headed over the side of a cliff?

For me, I am close to pledging my season 2001 allegiance to the Steelers. I have always liked Jerome Bettis and he is having a great year. Cowher is a great coach, they have a new stadium, they are a true football town–what’s not to like?

I would say the Bears, but I am afraid if I jumped on this wagon I would upset the delicate balance and crash it into a brick wall or something. Usually, any team I root for is jinxed, so I will just leave them alone until they are in the playoffs.

I used to be a Chiefs fan (actually I was a Joe Montana fan while St Louis was without a team and when he went to KC, that was just icing cuz now I could root for a team in my state). After Montana retired, my loyalty was split for a while with some residual loyalty to the Montana-less Chiefs and the new St. Louis Rams.

I have, for the past 3 years, been thoroughly enjoying myself on the Rams’ bandwagon. Although there is some loyalty to the Chiefs remaining, I was happy as hell that they got Trent Green and Vermeil (although I am mad at Vermeil for splitting on the Rams, only to come out of retirement a year later). If their ever is a Chiefs-Rams Superbowl, I guess I’d root for the Rams since they’re the home team, but I’d be happy regardless who won.

Go Chargers!
