Chris Benoit and family found dead...

Wow. What a vile, vile man.

As far as I know, the WWE has “banned” steroids for a very long time.

here

Well… although I’m not going to be able to think of the man without thinking about how horrific his last acts on earth were… IF you heard what his friends and colleagues had to say about him last night during the tribute, “a dick” wasn’t anywhere near their descriptions.

Sure, but that’s assuming an otherwise mentally healthy individual is the one doing the finding. If the guy (like Howard) had long expressed suicidal despondancy prior to the death, I can see that being the final deciding factor. Obviously that wasn’t the case with Benoit, but surely it’s happened at least once in human history.

True, but in fairness, he only asked for cases where someone committed suicide immediately afetr learning about a death that they weren’t responsible for. Doing so due to the shock of discovering a murder wasn’t one of his initial criteria.

Fuck him. Forget his name. Forget he ever lived. You might have enjoyed him in the ring, but he was a double murderer, not a “class act.” Let him burn in hell, and never let his name be mentioned again.

Motherfucker.

Agree- maybe you could understand killing your spouse in the heat of the moment, but killing your kid? It really doesn’t matter how great a guy other wrestlers think he was.

He is no better than that cop who killed his pregnant girlfriend.

Which cop was that, now?

What are they going to do, come on TV and slam the guy after he’s dead?

Heh, when his bros find out what he actually did I’ll bet ya a couple will think “well, that was a bit dickish.”

Cite Okay, I should have said he’s an “alledged” killer.

Bobby Cuts Jr.

Especially when they didn’t know. Assuming they have no more information than we do, when I went online at around 10:30, there was no indication that this was a murder/suicide (although I suspected and hoped against). I’m curious as to how this will play on tonight’s show and Friday’s (other than the guarantee that there will be no mention of steroids).

drm, WWE recently added a ‘Wellness Program’, suspending several wrestlers with substance overuse/abuse issues (most notable was Kurt Angle). And while there is probably still some testing going on in the locker rooms, it is too easy to defeat steroid tests - just as nearly any professional athlete.

I’d assume their response would be a bit more akin to Ogre’s. The guy who cut me of in traffic “was a bit dickish”. The guy I looked up to who murdered his family…stronger words apply.

This is from a poster on Digg, so it’s not worth very much. But according to Zabuza2478 here, Benoit’s wife killed their son and Benoit killed her in retaliation.

Could get thicker.

Agreed, PYD. Any lingering respect for the man will be gone when they show up for today’s matches, and will likely be replaced by a lot of anger and disappointment.

ETA: Paranoid, the same thing was said upthread (may be a big internet circle), but CNN reports that the wife is believed to be the first one killed.

No, as noted upthread, this idea has been debunked. His wife died first, likely on Saturday, and the son was smothered on Sunday.

Christ.

Is there any info regarding the emergency at home the wife called him to come home for in the first place?

Not confirmed that the wife called him home at this time. Just one of the conflicting accounts.

I don’t know whether the PPV event took place somewhere away from Atlanta (I know nothing about wrestling), so excuse the question if the answer is obvious.

If the event was out of town, does anybody have any idea where the child was between Saturday and Sunday?
