The AJC is reporting the Benoit’s son was “very small…even dwarfed” and had needle marks on his arms from apparent injections of growth hormone.

I’m lucky I have only a cornfield across from me.
I am sure Malachai and He Who Walks Behind The Rows think you are a lovely person and a great neighbor.
“She was quiet and kept to herself.”
Actually, he was retarded, how about that fucking shit.
 So rather than step up, and take up his share of the parenting duties, the asshole murdered his wife, and then his son?! Not enough  's in the world… He wasn’t a good guy, by any sense of the word! He might have been a good entertainer, I wouldn’t know about that. This does not make him a decent human being. For what it’s worth, I can give the people who made tributes to the guy a pass, because they were made before all the events were revealed.
Yes, he killed his wife and child, probably.
Doesn’t change the fact that I’m close to tears.
We used to get IWGP (one of the Japanese promotions he got his start with) on satellite in Britain; I used to watch it late at night with my brother. My brother and I are ten years apart, and we rarely saw eye to eye in those days. Wrestling was perhaps the only thing that brought us together at the time.
We first watched Benoit wrestle as the Dynamite Kid when I was nine. I’m now 24. I’ve been watching that man work his ass off to entertain me for fifteen years. Fifteen fucking years. I don’t speak to a single person who isn’t family that I knew fifteen years ago. My childhood love for wrestling is, besides Queensryche and Nintendo, all I have in common with my nine-year-old self. Hell, even the other wrestlers I loved as a kid are gone: Eddie Guerrero - deceased; Razor Ramon/Scott Hall - retired, in rehab constantly; British Bulldog - deceased; Bret Hart - retired; Jushin Thunder Liger - never wrestles outside Japan; Chris Benoit and the Undertaker were the only one left, and the Undertaker’s future in wrestling can probably be measured in months.
Look, guys, just because it turns out that a person isn’t quite who you thought he was, it doesn’t mean you won’t be upset when they are gone - both the person, and the person you believed them to be. Sorry.
They were giving Human Growth Hormone to a child with Fragile X Syndrome because they were concerned about his being small?!?
Guy, wrestling is shiite. You got more problems than Benoit’s meltdown to worry aboot if your heroes were Queensryche and same, sweet jeebus.
I didn’t say they were my heroes. I said they’re the only things that I was a fan of then that I’m still a fan of now.
Have you never looked at your world and thought about how much that used to brighten it is gone? Take a moment to reflect. I’ll wait.
Hehehehe, yeah, I have, parents and friends dying, loss of innocence, etc., but NOT FRAKKIN’ PRO WRESTLING OR QUEENSRYCHE.
Well, there’s your problem. You can’t appreciate the depth of true loss until you have something meaningful in your life. Poor dear.
Oh please! How about me? I’ve had “true” loss, (my mother) recently. Do I count? :dubious:
ETA: It occurs to me that a Pit thread about Benoit should be started, but I doubt it’d last long if I did so. I’ll take my grumpings there if someone else starts one up though.
Okay, people. My first post was meant to be taken seriously. The last two, not so much. I was responding to snark with further snark.
The point isn’t that I’m crushed because a wrestler I like is dead (although I will allow that this is somewhat true). My point is that wrestling is something which translates easily between generations, and in my case provides a link to a time in my life that not much else can.
That, I’ll concede, and I do see why you’d feel saddened and confused.
People who take the cowardly actions of killing their family (male, female, parent or child I feel the same about any of them) and then themselves really press my hotbutton hard.
A perfectly reasonable position. I’m not excusing the murders (although I’m taking something of a wait-and-see before condemning them- I’m trying to separate the Chris Benoit I know, as a performer/character, from the Chris Benoit I’ve only seen glimpses of.
Eddie Guerrero was close to a disabled friend of mine, and what I know of Chris Benoit as a person came only from him. He never had a bad word to say about the man, and while I got the impression they weren’t best friends, as the WWE tribute would lead one to believe, they were certainly close.
Queensryche?!? Btw, per my ealier post, you know he smothered his retarded kid who he had also been shooting up right? Come on!
I believe they said they didn’t find steroids in Chris Benoit’s system, or it isn’t determined yet. They did find anabolic steroids in the house though.
Operation Ripper, if you want to trash Benoit the person, by all means, go ahead. But you’re not doing yourself any favors by ripping into people whose tastes differ from yours. At that point, you’re just threadshitting, man.
Seriously, if all you’ve got to contribute is “I don’t like Benoit, nor do I like what you like,” you’ve done so. Plenty.
“Takes balls of steel to have a name like ‘Benoit’.”
(ducks and/or runs)
